These are the hints and answers for the NYT Connections puzzle dated Monday, November 24, 2025, game #897. Start with the clues below if you want a nudge; the complete groups are behind a spoiler warning.
Hints for Connections #897
Broad group clues, in puzzle order:
- Like an air fryer.
- In your vehicle.
- Take out your laptops, dump out your water.
- Like a rainbow.
A second hint layer describes the groups as things found in the same room, found inside a vehicle, found at JFK, and “shady” words. These are clues to the November 24 puzzle, not a separate puzzle published on November 23.

Yellow: Small kitchen appliances
BLENDER, MICROWAVE, RICE COOKER, TOASTER
Green: Features of a car’s center console
AIR CONDITIONER, CUP HOLDER, RADIO, SHIFTER
Blue: Seen while going through airport security
BIN, CARRY-ON, METAL DETECTOR, X-RAY
Purple: Ending in colors
INFRARED, MARIGOLD, STINGRAY, ULTRAVIOLET
Why the last group can be tricky
The purple group is based on word endings: infrared ends in red, marigold in gold, stingray in gray, and ultraviolet in violet. The words do not all name colors as a whole; each contains a color at its end.

There is also a tempting false pattern among RADIO, MICROWAVE, X-RAY, and INFRARED: all can evoke scanning or electromagnetic waves. TechRadar contributor Johnny Dee described considering that association while solving, but it is not one of the puzzle’s categories. INFRARED belongs with MARIGOLD, STINGRAY, and ULTRAVIOLET.

Connections asks players to sort 16 words into four groups of four based on a shared link. Guide-level explanations describe the category colors as yellow, green, blue, and purple, and say players can make up to four mistakes. Those mechanics are reported by the puzzle guides cited here; no official NYT rules page is cited.
