Why the purple group works
Each word in the last group ends with the name of an NHL team: GEODUCKS, SPOILERS, SUPERSTARS, and VIKINGS (Kings). The group relies on spotting team names embedded at the ends of longer words, rather than on a shared sport or position.

What the scoreboard abbreviations mean
The green answers are short forms for NFL teams: CHI is Chicago, MIA is Miami, MIN is Minnesota, and NO is New Orleans. The category is about the abbreviations as they appear on scoreboards.
