Use these clues in order if you want help without seeing the answer groups:
- Yellow: “Throw that ____.”
- Green: Think of the four parts involved in trying to score three points in American football.
- Blue: The teams are based in South Florida.
- Purple: These are names of women’s basketball teams that no longer exist.

How to approach the groupings
The yellow set uses informal terms for a fastball. For green, picture a field-goal attempt from the snap through the kick, with a hold and a possible block. The blue group combines Miami-area professional teams with the University of Miami’s Hurricanes. Purple groups former WNBA team names.

Why the year matters
The answer key here is for puzzle #148, dated February 18, 2025. A different Sports Edition puzzle appeared on February 18, 2026, so a date-only search can lead to the wrong clues and answers. Contemporary coverage describes Connections: Sports Edition as a daily sports-focused grouping game created in partnership by The New York Times and The Athletic; that description does not establish the access terms for this 2025 puzzle.
