If you mean the most recent December 17 edition surfaced here, it is the Wednesday, December 17, 2025, New York Times Crossword. Its revealer is SPELL IT OUT, with three long theme entries: POUTY PARTY, CHAMPS AT THE BOUT and SPOUT IN THE OCEAN. These answers come from a third-party listing, not the official puzzle, so check them against the NYT game if you need to verify a filled grid. The date alone does not identify a unique puzzle; another NYT crossword was published on December 17, 2017.
December 17, 2025 theme answers
WordDB’s listing for the Wednesday puzzle identifies SPELL IT OUT as the theme revealer at 60-Across. The clue is “Painstakingly explain something … or a hint to 17-, 26- and 45-Across.” The long entries listed are:
- 17-Across: POUTY PARTY
- 26-Across: CHAMPS AT THE BOUT
- 45-Across: SPOUT IN THE OCEAN
The listing also gives 37 Across clues and 42 Down clues. It is a third-party answer archive; the listing is not the official NYT puzzle. See WordDB’s December 17, 2025 answer listing.
Selected other answers

How to find the official December 17 puzzle
The NYT Crossword Archive lets readers browse by puzzle type, month and year. On the NYT website, choose Daily or Mini, select the month and year, then choose the puzzle. The archive goes back over ten years. Games and All Access subscribers have archive access; nonsubscribers have limited access. NYT Crossword Archive help.
The date matters: “December 17” by itself can refer to different puzzles from different years. The latest surfaced edition for that date is 2025; a separate result identifies a December 17, 2017 crossword. If you are looking for another year, select it in the archive rather than assuming the 2025 answers apply.
