This is the archived New York Times Strands puzzle for Monday, November 4, 2024—not today’s live puzzle. Its theme clue is “In A(n),” and the answers are words for brief or fleeting periods of time. Use the progressive hints below before opening the full solution.
Hints for Strands #246
- Theme clue: “In A(n).”
- Gentler nudge: Think of something brief or fleeting.
- Spangram hint: It runs vertically from the top of the board to the bottom. The first theme word is in the top half.
- Starting letters: IN, MI, JI, MO, SE, TI, and FL begin the theme words; SM begins the spangram.
How Strands works
Strands asks you to find theme words that fill the board. Every letter belongs to a theme word, and the theme words do not overlap. Select letters by dragging or tapping; if you use taps, double-tap to submit a word. The spangram describes the theme and touches two opposite sides of the board. These rules are attributed to The New York Times in Parade’s November 4, 2024 guide.
Finding three non-theme words earns an in-game hint. It reveals the letters of a theme word; if a hint is already active, the next hint shows the letters in their correct order.
