The spangram is BASKETBALL, which ties the team names together.
How Strands hints work
In Strands, players form words by dragging or tapping letters on the board. Found theme words stay highlighted, and finding three non-theme words earns a hint. Why the date is the clearest identifier
Answer guides agree on the theme words and BASKETBALL spangram, but they give conflicting puzzle numbers: Try Hard Guides calls it #440, while Xfire calls it #604. Using the date avoids that mismatch.
