A pre-release Reddit post attributed a figure of about 121 GB to a dataminer, but that post did not verify the game’s final size. Bethesda’s released information lists 125 GB of storage for the PC version and describes the console base-game install at launch as roughly 125 GB, with some variation. The figures are close, but they refer to different platform-specific measures.
How big is Oblivion Remastered?
Bethesda lists 125 GB of storage for both the minimum and recommended PC specifications, and requires an SSD. Its console support page describes the base-game install at launch as roughly 125 GB, with some variation. The game was released on April 22, 2025.
| Platform or source | Figure | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| PC — Bethesda system requirements | 125 GB | Listed storage requirement; an SSD is required. Bethesda PC requirements |
| Console — Bethesda support | Roughly 125 GB, with some variation | Base-game install size at launch. Bethesda console support |
| Pre-release discussion — Reddit, April 20, 2025 | About 121 GB | A dataminer-attributed claim discussed in a community post, not an official or independently confirmed final measurement. Reddit discussion |
Is the 120 GB leak accurate?
The approximately 121 GB figure was circulating before release, but the cited Reddit post only documents that the claim was being discussed. It does not establish that the number came from a verified final build. Bethesda’s later platform information gives the more useful planning figures: 125 GB for PC storage and roughly 125 GB for the console launch install.
Those numbers should not be treated as interchangeable. Bethesda labels the PC figure as a storage requirement and the console figure as an install size at launch. Neither source establishes a universal download size, how much temporary space an update might require, or an exact install size for every console configuration.

Were fans really split over the file size?
The leak thread shows that players discussed the reported size, but one community discussion cannot establish how players overall felt or whether opinion was evenly divided. The available evidence does not support calling the reaction broadly split, or assigning the community specific camps such as uniformly angry or impressed.
What PC players should check before installing
- Check that the drive has at least the 125 GB Bethesda lists for PC storage. The requirement applies to both the minimum and recommended specifications.
- Make sure the game will be installed on an SSD; Bethesda lists an SSD as required.
- Do not assume 125 GB is also the exact download size or a guarantee of sufficient temporary space for every update. The cited information does not specify either.
Bethesda’s PC requirements are the relevant reference for the storage and SSD requirements. They do not imply every player needs to buy a new drive.
