For a 24/7 guided meditation stream, use one simple OBS scene with an Image Source for the static background, your audio source, and an output profile that your internet connection can sustain. For YouTube H.264 at 720p/30 fps, its current guidance lists 3 Mbps minimum and 8 Mbps recommended; at 1080p/30 fps, it lists 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended. Set CBR and a two-second keyframe interval, test the full setup, and plan for YouTube’s warning that a stream over 12 hours may not be captured as an archive.
Build a simple scene for the meditation stream
Add the static background
Create one scene and add the background using Sources → + → Image. OBS recommends an Image Source for static image assets, and simpler scenes can use fewer resources. Size and position the image in the preview so it fills the canvas without unintended borders.
Add and check the audio
Add the audio source that will play the meditation program, then confirm its meter moves in OBS and that the intended audio is audible in a short test recording or private test stream. Choose the source and playback method that fit your setup; no particular audio device, player, or meditation track is established as universally best. Ensure you have the rights needed to use the audio on YouTube.
Run the Auto-Configuration Wizard
Use Tools → Auto-Configuration Wizard to get a starting setup based on your computer and network, then test it. The wizard cannot establish that a machine and connection will operate unattended for a full day; run an extended test on the hardware and connection you plan to use.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set OBS stream, encoder, and video output
Connect to YouTube
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and obtain its stream key.
- In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service, and configure the server and stream key. Treat the key like a password: do not show it on stream or share it.
- Keep the stream private or unlisted for a test if appropriate, and check YouTube’s live health before making the broadcast public.
Exact labels and available service options can vary by OBS version and operating system. Use the current YouTube service entry in OBS rather than copying a server address from an unrelated setup.
Choose encoder and rate control
For YouTube RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube’s encoder guidance supports H.264 and specifies constant bitrate (CBR). In Settings → Output, choose an available H.264 encoder and set rate control to CBR. A hardware encoder can move encoding work from the CPU to a specialized component and often has low performance impact on modern hardware, but availability and suitability depend on the computer and operating system. Check actual rendering and encoding performance rather than assuming one encoder is best.

Set bitrate and keyframes for the output
YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. Its current encoder guidance, accessed October 4, 2026, gives these H.264 figures:
| YouTube output | Minimum bitrate | Recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
These are YouTube recommendations for the stated codec, resolution, and frame rate—not guaranteed presets for every connection. In OBS, set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds and choose a bitrate that both falls within the platform’s limits and remains stable on your upload connection. OBS suggests using 75% of total upload speed as a starting point when troubleshooting dropped frames; measure upload stability and leave capacity for other network use rather than treating a speed-test peak as sustained capacity.

Choose resolution and frame rate
Pick a resolution and frame rate your encoder and connection can sustain. For a static-background program, there is no need to maximize either by default: a stable, accessible stream is more useful than a higher setting that causes drops. The cited guidance does not establish a universal best frame rate or bitrate for guided meditation. The table above only covers YouTube’s H.264 recommendations for 720p/30 and 1080p/30.
Make the setup more reliable before leaving it live
- Prefer wired networking when available. OBS recommends a wired connection because Wi-Fi may be unstable; Ethernet cannot rule out ISP or routing problems.
- Test the exact broadcast. Check the scene, audio, encoder, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and YouTube stream health together before launch.
- Watch OBS statistics. If dropped frames rise or the connection disconnects, investigate network stability and whether the connection can sustain the configured bitrate.
- Configure recovery carefully. OBS has an automatic reconnect control. Its network troubleshooting also describes dynamic bitrate adjustment as a beta option; it may reduce quality and does not fix the underlying connection.
- Keep a local recording if the program must be preserved. OBS recommends MKV for recordings because an ungraceful stop does not corrupt the entire file. YouTube also recommends maintaining a local archive backup.
Plan around YouTube’s 12-hour archive limit
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” YouTube’s DVR guidance also says rewind may be limited or unavailable on very long streams. Do not promise viewers a complete replay from one continuous 24-hour broadcast.

If a complete replay matters, consider dividing the program into shorter sessions, or make and verify a local recording. Check YouTube’s behavior for your actual workflow before relying on an archive or rewind. These archive and DVR qualifications are specific to YouTube’s published guidance.

OBS reports dropped frames or an unstable connection
- Check the OBS dropped-frame counter and confirm that upload capacity is stable over time.
- Try Ethernet if you are on Wi-Fi, and check whether other network activity is consuming upload bandwidth.
- Reduce the bitrate if the connection cannot sustain it. OBS’s 75% upload-speed figure is a troubleshooting starting point, not a guarantee.
- Try a different ingest server if one is available for your setup. Automatic reconnect may restore a connection, but it does not prevent the network problem.
- Dynamic bitrate may help keep a stream going by lowering quality, but OBS describes it as a beta option; it is not a replacement for a stable connection.
The computer struggles to render or encode
Check OBS rendering and encoding performance during an extended test. Simplify the scene, confirm that the selected encoder is available and working on your machine, and lower output demands if necessary. A hardware encoder may reduce CPU work, but the best choice depends on the system.

The stream ends without a complete replay
A single YouTube stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, and very long streams can have limited DVR rewind. Use shorter sessions if a platform archive is important, and preserve a verified local recording when continuity matters.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want the YouTube channel live without leaving OBS or a computer running, StreamNeo keeps an uploaded video or playlist looping from the cloud. The setup is: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting from a camera.
- Nothing has to stay on at home: the stream runs in the cloud.
- Each slot streams what you upload, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot.
- StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card required (one free day per account).
The Monthly price is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streams only. See StreamNeo or its plan details, then start the free day.
