For an audio-led Kannada bhajan playlist with a static or slow-moving visual, start in OBS at 1280×720, 30 fps, H.264 with CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, and a video bitrate within YouTube’s 3–8 Mbps recommendation for 720p30. Set audio to AAC stereo at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz. Match the bitrate to your sustained upload speed, allow about 20% headroom, and test the playlist and audio before going public.

Recommended OBS settings for a Kannada bhajan stream

These are a practical starting profile for an audio-first broadcast, not a guarantee that a particular computer or internet connection will sustain it. YouTube’s encoder recommendations are general live-stream guidance; they are not specific to Kannada bhajan streams.

OBS setting Starting value Why it matters
Video resolution 1280×720 A bandwidth-conscious baseline for a playlist whose visual is static or changes slowly.
Frame rate 30 fps, progressive Generally sufficient for an audio-led stream. This is a practical recommendation, not a special YouTube requirement.
Video encoder and rate control H.264; CBR Use a constant bitrate for the YouTube encoder setup.
Keyframe interval 2 seconds YouTube recommends 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds.
Video bitrate 3–8 Mbps at 720p30 YouTube’s recommended H.264 range. Begin toward the lower end if upload capacity is limited, then test.
Audio AAC, stereo, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz YouTube’s encoder-settings guidance for stereo audio.
Color Rec. 709 for SDR Use this for standard dynamic range.
Transport RTMPS, where available YouTube recommends RTMPS.

Choose 720p or 1080p based on the visual and your connection

720p30: a sensible audio-first baseline

For a still image, album artwork, or slow devotional visual, 720p30 is usually a reasonable starting point. YouTube lists 3–8 Mbps for H.264 at 720p30. Choose a bitrate your connection can sustain consistently rather than selecting the top of the range by default.

1080p30: use it when the picture benefits

If your visual has detail or motion that viewers benefit from seeing more clearly, test 1080p30 if your upload has enough spare capacity. YouTube lists 5–14 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p30. Sending 1080p is not necessary just to give viewers lower-resolution options: YouTube says it transcodes live streams into multiple output formats.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Leave upload headroom

YouTube advises allowing about 20% upload headroom beyond the total stream bitrate. Count audio as part of the stream’s bitrate, and account for other devices and activity sharing the connection. If upload capacity varies, reduce the video bitrate and run a realistic test. A nominal speed-test result alone does not establish that the connection will remain stable throughout a broadcast.

Build a looping playlist in OBS

Use VLC Video for multiple files

  1. Install VLC. OBS requires VLC for the VLC Video source; if you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC.
  2. In your OBS scene, add a VLC Video source and add the bhajan files in the order you want them to play.
  3. Leave Shuffle Playlist off if the listed order matters. Turn on Loop Playlist to repeat the list. OBS documents loop as on and shuffle as off by default, but check the source settings for your scene.
  4. Add an image or other visual source to the scene if the playlist should show devotional artwork or another visual while the audio plays.
  5. Watch the audio mixer while a track plays: the source should appear and its meter should move. Preview the beginning, a track transition, the end of the list, and the repeat to confirm the playlist behaves as intended.

Use Media Source for one file

For a single recording rather than a multi-file playlist, use a Media Source. OBS documents support for audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV. A Media Source is not the playlist option described above; use VLC Video when you need an ordered set of files with playlist controls.

Connect OBS to YouTube and start the broadcast

  1. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule an encoder stream. Enable live streaming access ahead of the event: YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
  2. Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube into OBS’s stream configuration. Treat the key as a password: YouTube describes it as acting like the stream’s password and address. Do not share it publicly.
  3. Select the YouTube service and an RTMPS endpoint in OBS if offered. YouTube recommends RTMPS.
  4. For a first run, use a private or unlisted test if that fits your channel workflow. Confirm that YouTube receives the stream and that the preview shows the intended image and sound.
  5. Check stream-health status in YouTube and dropped-frame indicators in OBS during the test and broadcast. Do not start a public event until the incoming picture, audio, and playlist behavior are correct.

Set latency and DVR for the kind of audience interaction you expect

YouTube offers latency and DVR settings. Lower latency can increase buffering, so normal latency is a sensible default for a playlist with little audience interaction. Choose lower latency when near-real-time interaction matters enough to justify that trade-off. DVR lets viewers pause and resume the live stream; consider whether that viewing behavior suits the event.

Clear the music rights before streaming

Technical compatibility does not grant permission to broadcast a recording. Confirm that you have the necessary rights or permission for both the sound recording and the composition, as applicable. A devotional or traditional song, or a recording that is freely accessible online, is not automatically cleared for a livestream. Whether a specific bhajan is public domain, licensed, or permitted depends on that work and recording; no general OBS setting can establish it.

Troubleshoot common playlist-stream problems

Symptom Likely cause What to check or change
VLC Video is unavailable in OBS VLC is not installed, or its architecture does not match OBS. Install VLC; with 64-bit OBS, use 64-bit VLC, then reopen OBS and check for the source.
The stream is live but there is no music The playlist source may not be playing or may not be routed as expected. Preview the scene, confirm the source appears in the audio mixer, and check that its meter moves during playback. Test the beginning and a track transition.
The playlist stops after the last track Loop Playlist may be off. Open the VLC Video source settings and enable Loop Playlist. Test the end-of-list behavior before broadcasting.
Tracks play in an unexpected order Shuffle Playlist may be on or files may have been added in a different order. Turn off Shuffle Playlist and confirm the listed file order in the VLC Video source.
YouTube does not receive the stream The stream URL, stream key, selected service, or endpoint may not match the YouTube encoder stream. Compare OBS’s configuration with the current values in YouTube Live Control Room. If the key may have been exposed, reset it there and update OBS.
Dropped frames or stream-health warnings appear The selected bitrate may exceed stable upload capacity, or the connection may be variable or shared. Lower the video bitrate within YouTube’s recommendation for the chosen resolution, preserve about 20% headroom, and retest with other household or office traffic considered.
First broadcast cannot be activated immediately Live-streaming access may still be activating on the channel. Enable access before the event day; YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
