For a Telugu movie-song playlist in OBS, start with a sustainable SDR profile: H.264, CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, AAC stereo at 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps, and either 1080p30 or 1080p60 at a bitrate your upload connection can reliably sustain. Build the playlist with OBS’s VLC Video source and test it before going live. First, though, clear the rights to every song and visual: YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and may interrupt or terminate a broadcast.
Clear the music and video rights before setting up OBS
Telugu movie songs can involve separate rights in the sound recording, composition, performance, and any film footage or artwork. The rights needed can vary by track and territory. Buying a song, owning a personal copy, finding it in an online playlist, or giving credit does not by itself establish permission to retransmit it live.
YouTube says it scans all live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can replace the stream image with a warning, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. If you have licensed third-party content, YouTube advises asking the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist before broadcasting. Archived live streams may also receive Content ID claims after the event. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Get permission for every song and visual you plan to broadcast, and ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting. A license may not prevent an automated interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. This is practical platform guidance, not legal advice or a claim that a single permission covers all rights or territories.

Choose OBS settings that your connection can sustain
There is no universal best profile for an unspecified computer and internet connection. Measure sustained upload capacity, select a bitrate that leaves headroom for normal network variation, and test a representative part of the show. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the actual stream and monitoring stream health during the broadcast. Its published bitrate figures are encoder recommendations, not guarantees for an individual connection.

The figures below are from YouTube’s encoder settings guidance, current as checked on 2026-10-03. Minimums are not a suggested target if your connection can support the recommended bitrate reliably.

Consult YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for the current table. The bitrate for 4K60 is substantially higher than for 1080p, and YouTube says 4K/2160 does not offer low-latency optimization. Choose resolution and frame rate for a reliable stream, not simply the highest available setting.
Video and encoder settings
- Rate control: CBR.
- Keyframe interval: 2 seconds; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Codec: H.264 is a conventional, broadly supported starting choice for SDR. YouTube also supports H.265 and AV1 ingestion, but select a codec only if your encoder and workflow support it reliably.
- Frame rate: Up to 60 fps is supported. For a playlist that does not need the extra motion smoothness, 30 fps can reduce bandwidth and encoding demand.
- Resolution: Begin with 1080p30 or 1080p60 if the measured connection can sustain the corresponding bitrate; use 720p30 if bandwidth is limited.

Audio settings for music
Use an OBS audio source that receives the authorized playlist audio, and confirm its meters move during a test. YouTube’s advanced stereo recommendation is AAC or MP3 at 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps. For a stereo music playlist, a clean, stable stereo feed is the relevant target; there is no need to configure 5.1 audio unless the production specifically requires it. Make a playlist loop in OBS
- Install VLC. OBS requires VLC for the VLC Video source. If you use 64-bit OBS, OBS documentation specifies installing 64-bit VLC.
- Add the source. In OBS, add a VLC Video source to the scene that will be sent to YouTube Live.
- Load your media. Add the local video files you have permission to broadcast to the source’s playlist.
- Check playback behavior. Loop Playlist is on by default and Shuffle Playlist is off by default. Confirm those settings match the intended order and repeat behavior.
- Test the whole path. Check the first and last items, transitions, picture, and audio routing. Confirm OBS audio meters show the playlist signal and check the YouTube preview before the public broadcast.
OBS’s official VLC Video Source documentation describes the source and its playlist behavior. Playlist mechanics do not grant rights to retransmit any included song or video.

Run a preflight test and monitor the live stream
- Confirm that the songs and visual elements are cleared for livestream use, and ask the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting.
- Measure upload performance and choose a bitrate the connection can sustain reliably; do not choose a profile solely because the computer offers it.
- Test representative audio and movement. Confirm playlist order, looping, OBS audio meters, and the YouTube preview.
- Review YouTube stream-health messages during the event. If a copyright warning identifies content, stop or remove that content promptly; an ongoing match may interrupt or terminate the broadcast.

The stream buffers or drops frames
The selected bitrate may exceed what the upload connection can sustain consistently, or the computer may be struggling to encode. Test upload capacity, lower the bitrate or move from 1080p60 to 1080p30 or 720p30, then run another test. If encoding load is the concern, try OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard and check the OBS Knowledge Base for encoder-specific guidance.

The VLC Video source is missing or will not play
Check that VLC is installed and that its architecture matches OBS; OBS documentation calls for 64-bit VLC with 64-bit OBS. Reopen OBS after installing VLC, then test the source with a local file.
The playlist does not repeat in the expected order
Open the VLC Video source settings and inspect Loop Playlist and Shuffle Playlist. The documented defaults are loop on and shuffle off, but verify the actual settings rather than assuming defaults remain unchanged.
There is no music in the stream
Make sure the OBS audio source is receiving the playlist playback, then play a representative item and check the OBS audio meters. Confirm the sound in a test broadcast and YouTube preview before relying on the scene live.
YouTube displays a copyright warning or interrupts the stream
A Content ID match can affect the live broadcast even when you believe you have permission. Stop or remove the identified material and contact the rights holder about the required permissions and channel allowlisting. A license alone may not prevent an automated interruption if the channel is not on the rights holder’s Content ID allowlist.
