Resetting an adapter interrupts the computer’s network path; it can disconnect OBS from YouTube, but that alone does not establish whether the YouTube live event ended.
Why an adapter reset can interrupt an OBS stream
OBS sends video directly from your computer to the streaming service; it does not relay your stream through an OBS server. The connection runs from the Windows network adapter through your local network and internet route to YouTube’s ingest service. If resetting the adapter interrupts that path, OBS can lose its connection to YouTube.
OBS describes dropped frames or intermittent disconnections as a network issue between the computer and the remote ingest server. That framing identifies the connection path, not necessarily the component at fault: the adapter, router, ISP route, or destination service may be involved. The available official guidance does not establish a reproducible OBS bug caused specifically by a Windows adapter reset, nor does it say that every reset ends the YouTube event.
Recover the stream in order

Confirm Windows connectivity
Try loading a normal web page. Then check that the adapter you intend to use is enabled and connected. If it is Ethernet, check the cable and the connection at the PC and router. Check OBS status and logs
Look at OBS’s streaming status and log rather than relying only on the fact that the interface appears to be in a streaming state. A dropped-frames or disconnected status points to an unstable or insufficient connection to the remote server; OBS notes that too many dropped frames can disconnect the encoder. Reconnect, then verify YouTube separately
If OBS’s automatic reconnect is enabled, allow it to attempt reconnection. The setting is under Settings → Advanced → Network in OBS. If it is disabled, reconnect from OBS after Windows connectivity has returned. Then check YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room to confirm whether the intended event is receiving data and showing as live. OBS reconnecting and YouTube recognizing the event as live are separate states; a reconnect is not a guarantee that the event resumed.

Check the stream key only if there is a key problem
A network adapter reset is not documented as invalidating a YouTube stream key, so do not reset the key as a reflexive fix. If the key was exposed or needs replacement, use YouTube Studio → Go Live → Stream tab → Stream key → Reset, then copy the newly generated key into OBS. YouTube’s stream settings are documented at YouTube Help: manage your live stream settings.
If disconnects continue after Windows is online
Test OBS network settings one at a time
In OBS → Settings → Advanced → Network, set Bind to IP to Default while troubleshooting, as OBS recommends. On Windows, OBS also lists Enable Network Optimizations and Enable TCP pacing as options some users report help with disconnections. Treat them as individual tests, not guaranteed fixes.

Dynamic Bitrate Adjustment can reduce bitrate when the connection is congested, but it does not repair the underlying cause and may lower stream quality. Change one setting at a time so you can tell whether it made a difference.
Isolate software and route problems
OBS lists security software or firewalls, VPNs, bundled network optimization tools such as Lenovo Vantage or Killer NIC, and outdated network drivers as possible contributors to connection problems. Check the adapter manufacturer’s site for current drivers. If you briefly test whether security software is interfering, restore protection afterward; do not leave it disabled.

Check Wi-Fi, router, and hardware
OBS recommends wired networking for streaming and lists modems or routers, cables, network cards, switches, and extenders among possible faulty devices. If you are on Wi-Fi, a wired connection can help isolate whether the wireless link is involved. If you are already wired, testing with a known-good cable or another network port is a reasonable diagnostic step—not a proven cure for this particular symptom. Replace equipment only after testing points to a fault.

- The time of the adapter reset and how it was performed.
- The adapter name and driver version, plus your Windows version.
- The relevant OBS log and the status OBS showed during the interruption.
- Whether ordinary web access returned and whether YouTube Live Control Room received data.
This evidence helps distinguish a local connectivity failure from a problem elsewhere on the route or with the YouTube event. Avoid changing several settings or replacing hardware before you have isolated where the connection stops.
