First check whether OBS is still sending video when the playlist reaches its last item. If OBS stops transmitting, YouTube may end the broadcast because of its auto-stop setting; changing that setting does not make the playlist repeat. To keep the stream’s picture and sound going, the OBS source or playlist tool must continue supplying content.
Find out whether OBS or YouTube is ending the stream
- Watch OBS as the final playlist item ends. Check whether OBS still shows streaming activity or whether its output has stopped or gone idle.
- Check YouTube’s Live Control Room at the same moment. Look at the preview and broadcast status. YouTube’s lifecycle documentation treats active stream status as evidence that its servers are receiving encoder data.
- Compare what happened. If OBS stopped sending video first, investigate the media source or playlist component. If OBS is still transmitting but YouTube says the event ended, check which broadcast OBS is connected to and review that broadcast’s settings.
A playlist finishing and a YouTube broadcast ending are separate events: OBS supplies the feed, while the broadcast’s settings determine how YouTube reacts when that feed stops.
Make the playlist continue in OBS
If you want uninterrupted video after the last playlist item, configure the component that plays the videos to repeat or otherwise keep supplying content, and keep an active OBS scene sending that content. The exact control depends on how the playlist is implemented: the title alone does not identify the media source, plugin, or external playlist tool, and there is no single menu path that applies to all of them.
- Identify the source or tool that plays the videos in the OBS scene.
- Check that component’s playback or playlist settings for a repeat, loop, or end-of-playback option.
- Apply the setting, then test by letting the final item finish while watching OBS output and the YouTube preview.
If you cannot find a repeat option, consult the documentation for the specific source, plugin, or playlist tool in use. Avoid changing unrelated YouTube settings as a substitute for making the source continue outputting video.

Check YouTube auto-stop and scheduled-broadcast controls
Auto-stop
YouTube says that when auto-stop is enabled, it ends a broadcast about one minute after the channel stops sending video on the bound stream. That can explain why the event ends after OBS output stops; auto-stop does not restart or loop the OBS playlist.
Check the selected broadcast’s auto-stop setting in YouTube’s live-stream settings. If you want a finished playlist to end the event, auto-stop may be the intended behavior. If you need time to reconnect after a temporary interruption, turning auto-stop off may prevent the event from ending immediately—but it still does not provide a video feed. YouTube’s OBS guide warns that a broadcast with auto-stop off will eventually end if no stream is sent for multiple hours.

Scheduled broadcasts
Confirm that OBS is connected to the scheduled event you intend to use. When auto-start and auto-stop are not enabled for a scheduled broadcast, OBS’s Start Streaming action and YouTube’s Live Control Room controls are separate: you may need to select Go Live in the Live Control Room to start the event, and End Stream to end it. Check the current interface, since OBS’s guide is community documentation and controls may change.
If OBS keeps transmitting but YouTube ends the event
- Verify that OBS is connected to the intended YouTube broadcast and its bound stream.
- Review the event’s auto-start and auto-stop choices, especially if it is scheduled or reuses saved stream settings. YouTube says reusing stream settings also copies those choices.
- Check whether the OBS YouTube integration is current, then test again while observing both OBS output and the Live Control Room status.
Older OBS Studio 27 release notes describe historical fixes involving Go Live for existing broadcasts without auto-start and the broadcast-button state when stopping streams with auto-stop enabled. Those release notes document past fixes, not proof that either issue is the cause of a current failure.

Choose the behavior you actually want
| Desired outcome | What to configure | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|
| Keep video and audio playing after the last item | Make the OBS source or playlist component repeat or otherwise continue outputting content. | YouTube auto-stop settings do not loop the playlist. |
| Allow time to recover from a temporary feed interruption | Review the broadcast’s auto-stop setting and keep the encoder ready to resume sending video. | Disabling auto-stop does not create a feed; YouTube says an event with auto-stop off eventually ends after multiple hours without a stream. |
| End the event when the content finishes | Let the source stop and use YouTube auto-stop if that is the intended broadcast behavior. | This is expected event-ending behavior, not a playlist-repeat fix. |
Common symptoms and fixes
| What you see | Likely area to check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| OBS output stops when the final playlist item finishes | The source or playlist component has reached the end. | Find its repeat or continuation setting; the exact control depends on the component. |
| OBS stops, then YouTube ends the broadcast about a minute later | YouTube auto-stop is enabled. | Decide whether to enable playlist repetition or whether ending the event is desired. |
| YouTube ends a scheduled event although you expected to start or stop it manually | The event’s auto-start/auto-stop choices or selected broadcast may not match your intention. | Verify the selected event and use the Live Control Room controls when required. |
| OBS appears to keep sending video, but YouTube marks the event ended | Broadcast selection, event settings, or the OBS YouTube integration. | Verify the bound event and settings, then check whether the integration is current. |
