To get the Cultist’s Treasure Map in Once Human, start Lost in Madness at Coastside Plaza in the Dayton Wetlands. Light or interact with the red candle inside the BN Mart area, open the nearby crate, then use the map from your quest items. It leads to an upper-level house or hut in Believer Colony in Chalk Peak, where the Believer’s Treasure Chest completes the quest.
How to get the Cultist’s Treasure Map
- Go to Coastside Plaza. The plaza is in the Dayton Wetlands. July 2024 walkthroughs place it southeast of the Monolith of Greed and just east of the starting zone; use the in-game map to confirm the current marker.
- Enter the BN Mart/store area. Look for a red candle inside.
- Interact with or light the candle. A nearby crate becomes relevant to the quest.
- Open the crate. It contains the Cultist’s Treasure Map.
- Open the map from your inventory’s quest-items section. Reading it advances Lost in Madness and reveals the destination.
Where the map leads
Travel to Believer Colony in Chalk Peak
The map points to Believer Colony in the Chalk Peak region, west of Tall Grass Inn. The colony is the settlement to search—not Coastside Plaza, where you obtained the map.
Find the upper-level house or hut
Climb to the colony’s upper level and search the buildings. The Escapist’s July 2024 directions identify a hut in the colony’s northwest area. Gamepressure’s July 2024 directions describe going upstairs in a house and checking near a desk. These landmarks point to the same search area, so check the northwest upper-level structures first and inspect rooms around desks if the chest is not immediately visible.
Open the Believer’s Treasure Chest
Interact with the Believer’s Treasure Chest in the upper-level building. Opening it completes Lost in Madness.

Chalk Peak access and level warning
The Escapist guides published July 12 and July 15, 2024 describe Chalk Peak as a level 35-or-higher destination and warn that an underleveled character may be refused entry or teleported away. A Gamepressure guide published July 15, 2024 says Chalk Peak was unlocked in its game state and could be entered without being instantly killed. Because those reports may reflect different versions or progression states, treat level 35 as a reported guide condition rather than a guaranteed current rule. Before travelling, check the region on your current in-game map and follow any access warning shown there.

The Escapist describes the reward more generally as experience and Energy Links rather than providing the same itemized list. Do not assume either guide’s 2024 breakdown is unchanged in your current game version.
