If your OneStream Live YouTube stream is stuck on “Starting,” first identify how you started it: as a pre-recorded video, through OneStream Live Studio, or with an external encoder. Then verify that YouTube is connected and selected as the destination. For an encoder stream, check the current server URL and stream key, the incoming-signal status, and whether a protocol change made the encoder URL stale. Network, bitrate, encoder, or device performance may also be worth checking, but no single cause is established for every “Starting” state.
Start with the streaming method
OneStream Live has separate workflows for pre-recorded video, Studio livestreams, and external encoders. The right checks depend on which one you used. If you are unsure, check the event or stream setup before changing encoder settings: those settings only apply to an external encoder workflow.
- Pre-recorded video: You selected an uploaded recording to stream.
- OneStream Live Studio: You started a live broadcast within OneStream Live.
- External encoder: You configured another encoder to send a live input to OneStream Live.
Check the YouTube destination
Confirm the account connection
Before scheduling or starting a stream, connect the YouTube account under Social Platforms in OneStream Live. If the account is not connected, reconnect it and confirm that the intended YouTube channel is the one authorized.
Confirm the destination is selected
For an encoder broadcast, select at least one social platform as the destination and save the selection before broadcasting. A connected account alone does not confirm that YouTube is selected for this particular broadcast.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If you use an external encoder
Copy the current server URL and stream key
- Open the relevant OneStream Live stream-key or encoder setup and copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- In your encoder, replace the configured server URL and key with those current values. Avoid relying on an older saved configuration.
- Check the incoming-signal status in OneStream Live’s advanced stream-key settings. Treat it as an observation: if OneStream does not show an incoming signal, confirm the encoder is sending to the displayed URL with the matching key. If it does show a signal, that confirms input is reaching OneStream, but does not by itself establish why YouTube remains at “Starting.”
Recheck the URL after changing protocol
OneStream Live says its server URL updates automatically when the protocol selection changes. If you changed protocols, copy the newly displayed server URL and key into the encoder, then reconnect or restart its output as appropriate. An encoder still pointed at the previous URL may not be sending to the current endpoint.
Check network and encoder performance
OneStream Live’s 2026 RTMP quality guidance gives the following operating recommendations. They are checks for stream quality and stability, not proof that a missed threshold caused a particular “Starting” state.

| Check | OneStream Live guidance | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 720p (HD) video bitrate | Minimum 1.5 Mbps | Check the encoder’s configured video bitrate and whether the connection can sustain it. |
| 1080p (Full HD) video bitrate | Minimum 3 Mbps | Check the configured bitrate and avoid assuming the recommendation guarantees a start. |
| Upload capacity | At least 10 Mbps recommended; 25 Mbps or higher described as ideal | Check upload speed and connection stability while the encoder is sending. |
| Bitrate relative to upload speed | Video bitrate should be no more than half of available upload speed | If the connection is variable or the bitrate consumes too much capacity, reduce load or stabilize the connection. |
| CPU use | At or above 80% is the point at which performance troubleshooting is suggested | Reduce encoder workload or close resource-intensive applications, then check whether CPU load improves. |
These values are recommendations from OneStream Live’s guide, not universal guarantees. A stream can remain stuck for reasons that the guidance does not identify, even when the suggested network and performance checks look satisfactory.
When it still says “Starting”
Keep the exact status visible and collect the details that distinguish workflows. OneStream Live’s troubleshooting index also covers streams that remain in Processing or Pending, fail immediately after starting, have invalid or disconnected destinations, or show destination-platform errors. Those are separate status or error cases; do not assume one applies unless it matches what you see.
