The picks below are Pocket Gamer’s S+ selections in its September 17, 2026 update for Version 3.333. Treat them as a useful shortlist, not a universal ranking: matchup, team composition, player execution, and familiarity all affect what works in a particular game.

These placements come from an editorial tier list rather than a published dataset. The source does not provide Shikigami win rates or pick rates, so an S+ label should not be read as a measured statistical advantage.

- Marksman: Kinnara, Youko, Suzuka Gozen, Tesso, and Kaoru.
- Support: Hiyoribou, Bukkuman, Ebisu, Shouzu, Bakekujira, Kaguya, Ichimokuren, and Hana.
- Jungle: Yato no Kami, Kosodenote, Susanoo, and Puppeteer.
The list repeats Mahamayuri in its marksman S+ row; that duplicate is not an additional pick. Lower tiers are omitted here because a long roster can obscure the role-specific shortlist.
How two Version 3.333 guides compare
TOPUPlive’s comparison guide, dated August 31, 2026, broadly agrees with Pocket Gamer on top, jungle, marksman, and several support S+ picks. Its mid-lane S+ display includes Inaba Kaguya, Nyuunai-suzume, Hoshiguma Doji, Ungaikyo, and Maestro; its overview also names Senhime. Pocket Gamer includes Senhime in its S+ row. This is a difference in how the guides present their editorial lists, not proof that the Shikigami perform differently.
TOPUPlive says it considers strength, lane pressure and consistency, flexibility across team compositions, Version 3.333 meta value, and effectiveness in skilled hands. Those are sensible ways to think about a tier ranking, but the two guides do not publish a shared scoring method or underlying match dataset.
How to choose a Shikigami for your match
Start with your role and comfort
Use the lane list to narrow your options, then choose a Shikigami whose abilities and weaknesses you understand. Pocket Gamer’s author Mihail Katsoris notes that “in the lower ranks, you can get away with many things” whether or not a Shikigami is currently in the meta. A character you can execute reliably may be more useful than a higher-ranked pick you have barely played.
Account for the team and the matchup
A ranking cannot tell you which pick best complements your allies or answers the opposing lineup. Consider what your team needs in your role and whether you are comfortable handling the matchups your choice may face. Pocket Gamer cautions that familiarity and managing a Shikigami’s weaknesses can outweigh meta status at lower ranks; at higher ranks, meta choices may matter more.

Use beginner suggestions as starting points
TOPUPlive suggests Kuro, Shuten Doji, and Yuki for top; Shishio, Yamakaze, and Yumekui for jungle; Hana, Higanbana, and Kiyohime for mid; Hakuro, Miketsu, and Komatsu for marksman; and Kaguya, Hiyoribou, and Ebisu for support. These are the guide’s beginner options, not independently tested recommendations.

The two reviewed guides cover Version 3.333, but no official source in the reviewed material confirms the live patch after those rankings. The lists are therefore the latest reviewed editorial snapshots, not a verified ranking for every October 2026 match.
Balance changes can make older placements less useful. For example, the official March 28, 2025 balance update described changes to durability, top-lane solo play against early ranged pressure, Samurai early-game strength, jungle economy and mechanics, and items. That update illustrates how much the game’s balance systems can shift; it does not establish the 2026 meta or explain specific placements in Version 3.333.

Regional preferences, competitive environments, and patch timing may also produce differences between Global and CN metas, according to TOPUPlive. The guide does not provide a quantified regional comparison, so the size or direction of any difference is not established.
