“Temple of Seasons” is a location in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, not a separate released game. These beginner tips cover Oracle of Seasons, Nintendo’s 2001 Game Boy Color adventure set in Holodrum. Its central tool, the Rod of Seasons, changes the landscape: use seasonal changes to open routes, solve puzzles, and decide where to explore next.
How do seasons help you get past obstacles?
Look at what is blocking the route, then ask what a different season could change. Nintendo describes seasonal changes as the basis for many of the game’s puzzles. Its examples offer useful first guesses: spring can make a flower grow at the bottom of a cliff, giving Link a way up, while winter can freeze a deep lake so he can cross it. Nintendo’s Oracle of Seasons page and its Nintendo Switch Online announcement describe these mechanics.
- A cliff blocks the way: Look for a small plant below or near the cliff. If spring is available, try changing to spring and check whether the flower creates a route upward.
- Water blocks the way: If it is a deep lake, try winter. Frozen water may provide a crossing.
Think in before-and-after states: identify the obstacle, predict what the season might change, then check the result. These are starting hypotheses, not a guarantee that every plant or body of water responds in the same way.
What if you cannot choose the season you need?
You do not begin with every seasonal power. A community walkthrough describes the Rod’s powers as unlocking over time through visits to season towers, so a blocked seasonal option can be a progression gate rather than a puzzle you have missed. If you cannot select the season that seems right, continue along the available main route and return after gaining more progress. Keep track of obvious barriers rather than repeatedly trying the same unavailable change. Once you gain a new seasonal power or item, revisit one or two noted obstacles and see whether the route has opened.
Which items should you check first?
If an expected sword attack or shield action does not work, inspect your inventory and button assignments before concluding that the item is missing or unusable. Treat this as walkthrough guidance rather than an official Nintendo setup instruction.

Season changes can alter access, and seasonal powers arrive as you progress. Use each meaningful unlock as a reason to reconsider nearby routes:

- Notice a clear obstacle, such as a cliff or deep lake, and remember where it is.
- Continue until you gain a new seasonal power or item.
- Return to a small number of obvious obstacles and test the newly available option.
- If the route remains blocked, consider whether another item or more story progress is needed instead of repeating the same attempt.
This revisit approach is a practical way to apply the documented mechanics, not a guarantee that every blocked route is solved by a season change.
