Ramattra’s turn from imposing omnic leader to meticulous housekeeper was the standout surprise, though community reactions were mixed rather than unanimous.
What was the Overwatch fan skin contest?
Overwatch China framed the event as its first fan skin-design contest, built around the alternate-history prompt “If the Omnic Crisis Never Happened.” Participants were invited to imagine how heroes might look in a world shaped by that different past. The contest page said winning works had a chance to be added to the game, not that every recognized design would be produced. Overwatch China’s contest page described the theme and implementation terms.
Which fan-made skin concept won?
Community winner reporting identifies the top-ranked submission as a bundle of three concepts: Ramattra as a cleaner or housekeeper, Kiriko as a baker, and Cassidy as an inmate. This is a reported roster rather than a complete official results list: the contest page’s accessible text does not expose every winner’s name. Community winner discussion names the trio and other reported entries.
Why Ramattra drew attention
The contrast is the point: Ramattra is usually associated with omnic power and conflict, while this design recasts him as a fastidious cleaning unit. Placing him in an ordinary service role makes the concept unexpectedly funny and distinct from a conventional battle-ready skin.

Other reported entries
Community reports also name designs for Wuyang, Juno, and Moira among the ranked entries. Because the official page’s dynamic text does not provide a fully readable roster, those names should be treated as community-reported results, not an independently complete official list.
Was the winner chosen by a public vote?
There were separate forms of recognition: ranked cash awards and a popularity award. Community reporting describes judging and public voting as distinct parts of the process, so it would be misleading to say the overall first-place entry won solely through a popular vote. The official page lists the prize categories and amounts: one ¥20,000 first-place award, two ¥10,000 second-place awards, two ¥6,000 third-place awards, and ¥800 popularity awards. The figures are in yuan as listed by the Overwatch China contest page, accessed in 2026.

Did the winning designs come to the game?
Some contest-associated ideas later appeared in Overwatch 2, but winning the contest did not guarantee an in-game release. In a May 12, 2026 announcement, Blizzard described its What If? collection as “Partially inspired by community ideas and creativity” and listed Maid Ramattra, Firefighter Wuyang, and Fitness Coach Vendetta. Blizzard’s announcement described Ramattra as a hyper-dedicated cleaning unit with a cleaning-tool staff, and Wuyang as a firefighter. Blizzard’s collection announcement gives the descriptions and shop dates; the collection ran May 12–June 1, 2026, so that shop window has ended.
Maid Ramattra and Firefighter Wuyang connect to concepts reported from the contest. Vendetta was an additional What If? design, not a contest entry, according to community reporting. The available sources do not establish the release status of every other ranked or popularity-awarded concept.

What did players think?
Community posts show enthusiasm for the surprising winner, alongside criticism and preferences for other concepts. Those discussions illustrate a range of reactions; they are not a representative poll and do not establish that all, or even most, players shared one view. Community reactions and voting discussion provide examples, not a measured sentiment result.
