If Overwatch 2 on PS5 gets stuck at “Loading Preferences” and shows error NP-104602-3, there is no verified universal fix. Try fully closing and relaunching the game, restarting the console, and checking PlayStation Network and Blizzard service status. These are low-risk checks—not guaranteed repairs—and community reports show that they do not resolve every case.
What NP-104602-3 means in Overwatch 2
Players have reported NP-104602-3 while Overwatch 2 is starting on PS5, particularly when the game remains at “Loading Preferences.” The available reports do not establish an official definition for the code or confirm whether it comes from PlayStation Network, Blizzard services, an account-linking problem, or a home network.
One player described the same startup issue on October 1, 2024, and another reported it on October 30, 2022. These are community accounts, not vendor diagnoses: 2024 PS5 report and 2022 PS5 report.
Try these low-risk checks first
- Note what happens. Record the exact screen and error, when it appeared, and whether it followed an update, console restart, network change, or service interruption. This helps distinguish a recurring startup failure from a one-off connection problem.
- Close and relaunch Overwatch 2. Fully close the game rather than leaving it suspended, then launch it again. One player reported that closing the game did not resolve their case, so treat this as a first check, not a promised fix (2024 report).
- Restart the PS5. After the console restarts, open Overwatch 2 and check whether it passes Loading Preferences.
- Check service status. Before changing network settings or reinstalling, check the official PlayStation Network service status and Blizzard service status. A status check can show whether a listed interruption may be relevant; it does not by itself identify the cause of this specific code.
If you use Wi-Fi, test a band change cautiously
A player reported being able to log in after switching Wi-Fi to 5 GHz, but also said the connection had poor ping afterward and was unsure whether 2.4 GHz would be better. That is one person’s experience, not a reliable or universal fix (August 2024 report).

If you try a different Wi-Fi band, treat it as a reversible diagnostic test: check whether the game gets past the error, then assess whether your connection is playable. Return to your previous setting if latency worsens. The report does not establish that either band is best for all players.

If the error remains, contact PlayStation or Blizzard support. Include a screenshot, the exact code and screen, the time and your region, whether you use Wi-Fi or a wired connection, and the steps you have already tried. This gives support a specific incident to investigate without assuming the cause.

- DualSense Controller PS5 and PC compatible. Not compatible with PS4.
- PS Remote Play requires Remote Play App connected to Wi-Fi, PS4 or PS5 console with the latest system software and compatible game. A PS4 or PS5 console with a wired connection via a LAN cable is recommended. Version 4.0 of the Remote Play App on iOS and iPadOS or version 4.1 on macOS is required for games to be playable with the controller over Bluetooth.
A 2022 player said reinstalling the game, rebuilding LAN/Wi-Fi connections, testing connectivity, and unlinking and relinking Battle.net and PlayStation accounts did not resolve their case. They also mentioned a separate CE-113202-9 connection message. That account does not prove these steps never help, but it offers no reason to repeat disruptive reinstall or account-linking changes as a first response (2022 report). Avoid unlinking accounts or reinstalling unless support recommends it.
