When did Overwatch 2 Season 17 release?
Season 17 launched June 24, 2025, according to Blizzard’s Season 17 announcement. The season is now historical; this guide distinguishes what arrived at launch from midseason content and features moved to Season 18.

Was Unranked Stadium with Cross-Play available in Season 17?
No. Blizzard moved Unranked Stadium from Season 17 to Season 18, and said Cross-Play would be enabled with Unranked’s launch. Blizzard’s Stadium development team put it this way: “Cross-Play will be fully enabled with Unranked so your whole squad can finally dive in together.” That was the revised Season 18 plan, not a Season 17 feature.
What maps and map features came to Season 17?
Aatlis and Map Voting
Aatlis was the season’s new Flashpoint map. Map Voting also arrived in Quick Play and Competitive, letting players vote on maps in those modes.

Midseason Flashpoint reworks
Suravasa and New Junk City received midseason reworks. Blizzard described the changes as improving routes, visual themes, sightlines, and map rotations. These were updates to existing Flashpoint maps, separate from Aatlis’s addition.
Stadium map versions
Stadium received versions of Esperança and Samoa, which were added to their respective Stadium map rotations. These were Stadium-specific additions, not new core-mode maps.

Which heroes were announced for Stadium?
The Season 17 trailer announced Sigma, Zenyatta, and Junkrat for the Stadium roster. Those announcements concerned Stadium; they do not mean the heroes launched as new additions to Overwatch 2’s core modes with Season 17.
Was Wuyang playable during Season 17?
Yes, temporarily. Wuyang, a Support hero, had a limited-time Hero Trial from August 14–18, 2025, ahead of his planned Season 18 release. The trial was not a Season 17 core hero launch.

What other Stadium changes were included?
Blizzard’s Stadium roadmap described Stadium Forge features for creating, naming, categorizing, and sharing builds. Blizzard also said Competitive Drives could be progressed in both Core Competitive and Stadium during the midseason update.
