Blizzard says Sombra and Roadhog are both getting major reworks in Overwatch Season 5. The announcement confirms one especially significant change: Sombra is moving from Damage to Support. It does not give individual launch dates or explain either new kit, so the details—and whether one rework is truly the most radical in years—remain unconfirmed.
What Blizzard has announced
Blizzard’s BlizzCon announcement names Sombra and Roadhog as the two heroes set to receive major reworks in Season 5. It says Sombra will change roles, moving from Damage to Support. The reviewed announcement does not say Roadhog will change roles.
Season 5 is the stated window for both changes, but Blizzard does not provide a specific date for either rework in the announcement. That means the announcement establishes the plan and Sombra’s role shift, not a day-by-day rollout schedule.
What is—and is not—known about the changes
The announcement does not describe revised abilities, cooldowns, weapons, or other kit details for either hero. It therefore is not possible to say from this material how Sombra will support teammates or how Roadhog’s gameplay will change. Any specific ability descriptions or predictions should be treated as speculation unless Blizzard confirms them separately.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Nor does the announcement compare the scale of these changes with earlier Overwatch reworks. Calling one the “most radical” in years is an editorial characterization, not a claim established by the official details currently available here.
How the two announced reworks compare
| Hero | Confirmed change | Role change stated? | Timing stated |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sombra | Major rework | Yes: Damage to Support | Season 5; no individual date given in the announcement |
| Roadhog | Major rework | No role change stated in the announcement | Season 5; no individual date given in the announcement |
Because the announcement supplies no kit details, it does not support a gameplay comparison beyond these confirmed points.
