There is no evidence-backed, universal “best support build” for Overwatch Stadium in September 2026. The strongest approach is to build around your hero’s job, choose complementary Powers, and buy Items to address the match in front of you. Because Powers are locked once selected and balance updates can change what works, treat fixed build lists as patch-specific rather than timeless recommendations.
How support builds work in Stadium
Stadium is a best-of-seven mode with one Tank, two Damage heroes, and two Supports. Each hero combines free Powers with purchasable Items to alter their kit. Blizzard describes Powers as “transformative modifiers that grant unique passives, modifiers, or whole new abilities.” The game also provides example builds for players learning the system. You select Powers at the start of rounds 1, 3, 5, and 7 if the match reaches them. A chosen Power cannot be removed, so each pick should advance a plan rather than merely look useful in isolation. Choose the approach that fits your hero, team and opponents. These are decision frameworks, not verified hero-by-hero build orders.

Blizzard specifically calls survival broadly useful and notes that Mercy or Ana may want to live longer when caught by an opponent. That is a valid support priority, not a rule that every Support should always choose defensive options.
How to choose Powers
- Decide your job. Consider whether your team needs you to stay safe under pressure, strengthen a key ability, or contribute more direct offensive pressure.
- Check that each Power supports that job. Powers may enhance abilities, weapons, or other parts of a hero’s kit; choose combinations that form a coherent strategy.
- Account for the lock-in. Since selected Powers cannot be removed, avoid a pick that only helps in a situation your team is unlikely to create.
- Reassess at each Power round. New choices arrive at the start of rounds 1, 3, 5, and 7 if reached. Keep the original plan when it still fits, or adapt when the match has changed.

How to spend Stadium Cash and counter opponents
Do not treat an opening shopping list as correct for every match. Blizzard’s guidance is to spend deliberately, watch enemy strategies, and use purchases to reinforce your build or counter what opponents are doing. “Upgrading your Hero with Items and Powers to their maximum potential is your best chance of winning in Stadium,” the official strategy guide says.
- If you are repeatedly targeted: prioritize a purchase that helps you withstand or deter the pressure, if available to your hero.
- If you are safe enough to execute your plan: invest in the kit feature your Powers are already strengthening.
- If the enemy composition or build changes the problem: adjust later purchases rather than continuing a plan that is no longer addressing the match.
Blizzard’s guide gives Ana’s Tranquilizer Hero Item as a historical defensive example: it increases Sleep Dart’s hit box by 500%, which the article says may make enemies think twice about diving her. That example illustrates countering an approach; it does not establish the Item as the current best choice or verify its present balance values.

Why a definitive 2026 tier list is not established
Exact support recommendations depend on the hero, team, opposing builds, and live balance. Blizzard says Stadium will continue to receive seasonal balance updates, rank resets, and rewards, while it does not plan to add new heroes or maps. In that post, Blizzard reported Stadium Ranked at approximately 3% of daily players and Stadium Unranked at approximately 3% — Blizzard Entertainment, 2026, with data as of June 28, 2026. Blizzard cautioned that players may be counted in every mode they play during a session and that not all modes are listed. Those participation figures say nothing about support-hero win rates or build performance.

A practical pre-match and in-match checklist
- Start with the job your team needs from your chosen Support.
- Pick Powers that work together and remember they are locked once selected.
- Use example builds as learning aids, not automatic answers.
- Watch who is pressuring you and what the enemy team is building.
- Spend Stadium Cash to advance your plan or respond to a specific threat.
- Check current patch guidance before trusting any dated “best build” list.
