If Pax Autocratica keeps crashing, start with the developer’s three checks: verify the game files in Steam, then test with DLSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation turned off if either is enabled. These are troubleshooting steps, not guaranteed fixes. If the game only appears stuck on a loading screen, a Steam moderator says waiting a few minutes may help; a hard crash or an unresponsive PC is a different problem.
Try the developer’s recommended checks first
In an August 13, 2026 Steam announcement, Alexis, Minister of Propaganda, recommended verifying the game files and disabling DLSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation if they are enabled. The developers wrote, “These steps have resolved the issue for many players and can help us rule out several common causes.” That describes their reported experience; it is not a guaranteed cure or a measured success rate. - Verify the installed files: In Steam, open Library → Pax Autocratica → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. Let Steam complete the check, then try launching the game again.
- Test without DLSS Super Resolution: If it is enabled in the game’s graphics settings, turn it off and retry the action that caused the crash.
- Test without Frame Generation: If enabled, turn it off and retry. Where practical, change one graphics setting at a time so you can tell whether it affects the problem.
The announcement does not give a controlled test procedure or establish which check applies to a particular crash. If the game still fails after these steps, record what you tried before reporting the issue.
Identify when the crash or freeze happens
Note the exact stage: startup, loading a save, a loading screen, a transition between scenes, or during gameplay. Those details make a report more useful, but the available reports do not establish one universal cause for these different symptoms.

- Startup: Record whether the game closes before reaching its menus or fails later.
- Save loading or tutorial: Note whether the same save or point in the tutorial triggers the failure.
- Loading screen or transition: If the game appears to be lagging or frozen on a loading screen, a Steam moderator says it may resolve after waiting a few minutes. This is a limited suggestion for loading-screen stalls, not a promise for a hard crash or a fully unresponsive PC.
- During play: Note what was happening just before the failure, such as a battle or other transition, without assuming that event is the cause.
A Steam support discussion includes individual reports of a freeze after a battle, crashes while loading a save, and a crash after the tutorial. These are player reports, not proof of a defect that affects everyone. See the Steam support discussion.
Check your PC against the published minimum requirements
Steam lists the following minimum requirements. They are compatibility baselines, not a diagnosis of a crash or proof that upgrading a component will fix one. See the Steam store listing.

If your system falls below a listed baseline, include that information when contacting support. The requirements alone do not identify why a particular crash occurs.
Report a persistent problem to the developers
If the recommended checks do not resolve the issue, the August 13 developer announcement asks affected players to contact the team through its Discord so it can investigate. A Steam moderator also recommends using the in-game report option with the K key, which the moderator says sends relevant data to developers for review. The moderator links a route for submitting player logs as well. Open the Steam support discussion for the reporting and log links.

Include the symptom stage, what happened just before the failure, whether DLSS Super Resolution or Frame Generation was enabled, and which troubleshooting steps you tried. This gives the team a clearer account of the case without assuming a cause.

Pax Autocratica is an Early Access PC game. Its Steam listing says it is not complete and may change as development continues; the developers explain that its interacting systems are one reason they chose Early Access. Stability fixes in a particular update do not establish that every crash is fixed.

The official news archive records stability-related changes across several updates: an August 12, 2026 update added automatic save backups after unexpected system crashes, freezes, or similar interruptions; the August 13 post gave the first-line checks above; an August 14 update said it attempted to fix crashes associated with enabling FSR; and a September 11 update reported loading-stability improvements and fixes for certain exit crashes and loading failures.
