The Roots was a PEAK update announced on November 5, 2025. Its official announcement confirms a new biome, items, badges, and outfits—but the available announcement text is not a complete itemized changelog. Later patches made additional balance and bug fixes, so the launch announcement alone is not a current account of PEAK.
What changed in The Roots update?
The official PEAK Team announcement on November 5, 2025 describes the release this way: “You know the drill! New Biome, New Items, New Badges, New Outfits! It’s PEAK!!!” The post establishes those four content categories, but does not name the biome, individual items, badges, or outfits in the captured description. It should not be treated as a complete inventory of everything in the update. Read the official Steam announcement.
A community-wiki search excerpt identifies The Roots as version 1.40.a. The wiki page itself was unavailable to verify, so that version label is secondary-source information rather than a confirmed detail from the official announcement. See the PEAK version-history page.
What changed after the launch?
Later notes include changes that specifically affect Roots content as well as general PEAK fixes. These should be distinguished from the November 2025 release announcement.

Version 1.40.a: a reported Roots balance adjustment
The community-wiki search excerpt says some of the more challenging Roots variants were temporarily adjusted to have slightly fewer spore clouds while developers considered broader balance changes. The available excerpt gives no further detail, so it does not establish which variants were affected, how many clouds changed, or whether the adjustment was later revised.
Patch 2.04.a: a Roots-specific visual fix
Official patch 2.04.a notes that evil bounce mushrooms displayed the wrong colors in a Roots variant. The same update returned Caldera and the Kiln to the map rotation and added features there; those are broader rotation changes, not part of The Roots launch. The notes also document fixes involving room codes and campfire saves remembering items around campfires. Check PEAK’s official Steam news for patch 2.04.a.

Version 2.6.b addresses badge eligibility after reviving in Gloom or the Citadel, along with late-join issues including a t-posing skeleton. These are later general game patches, not additions to The Roots launch changelog. View the official PEAK news feed.

Do the original Roots notes still describe PEAK?
No. They describe the broad categories of content announced for the November 2025 release, not the game’s full subsequent history. Later official patches include general bug fixes and at least one Roots-specific visual correction, while the available 1.40.a excerpt reports a temporary balance adjustment. For a current picture, consult the official news feed as well as the original announcement; do not read the short launch description as an exhaustive changelog.
