PEAK’s June 24, 2025, v1.5.a update added lobby-joining improvements in response to reports of random players joining games. The developer said the fix was intended to stop players bypassing protections, not that it would prevent every unwanted join. The patch also adjusted animations, an achievement, the Weight status, and the Cursed Skull.
What changed in PEAK v1.5.a?
The June 24, 2025, patch notes describe v1.5.a as a small bug-fix update. They list five changes:
- Lobby joining improvements: an effort to address reports of random players joining games.
- Slope animations: improved running and idle animations on sloped surfaces.
- Bookworm achievement: fixed an issue that made the achievement unobtainable.
- Weight status: items that clear all statuses no longer clear Weight.
- Cursed Skull: now gives friends some bonus stamina alongside its other effects.
The notes do not explain the technical implementation of the lobby change. The PEAK version-history notes record the listed changes and attribute the announcement to Landcrab.
Does the update prevent random players from joining your lobby?
It was intended to address the problem, but the patch notes do not establish that all unwanted joins are impossible. Landcrab wrote that the team had pushed a fix “to hopefully prevent players from bypassing” protections and asked players to report continuing problems. Treat v1.5.a as a lobby-joining improvement, not a guarantee that no stranger can ever join.
The same announcement said Steam’s default settings could allow someone to join by searching a player’s Steam username if the appropriate privacy settings were not enabled. For extra protection, the team recommended setting profile privacy to Friends Only or Private.
How to adjust the Steam privacy setting
- Open your Steam profile using View My Profile.
- Select Edit Profile, then Privacy Settings.
- Set profile privacy to Friends Only or Private, according to your preference.
These are the menu labels transcribed in Landcrab’s message; Steam’s interface may change. The announcement recommends both settings but does not detail their current visibility rules, so check the options shown in Steam before choosing.
