Verdict: PGSharp offers Android players a wide range of location controls, catch shortcuts, information overlays, and automation. But it does so through a modified, unofficial Pokémon GO client and location spoofing—conduct Niantic prohibits. It may add convenience; it is not a safe recommendation for a valuable account.
What PGSharp is—and what “full potential” really means
PGSharp is an Android-focused modified Pokémon GO client. Unlike a conventional companion app that provides information alongside the official game, PGSharp changes how the game is played: it can present a virtual location, add movement controls, alter encounter flows, and automate actions.
That distinction matters. PGSharp can expand the game’s mechanical convenience, but its features do not make it an official Pokémon GO enhancement. Niantic’s Terms of Service prohibit unauthorized third-party software and techniques that alter or falsify a device’s location, including GPS spoofing. So “unlocking the full potential” depends on what you mean: PGSharp offers more controls and automation, while the official client is the route aligned with Niantic’s rules and support model.
Current version, Android support, and plans
PGSharp’s site listed version 1.261.0 and Android 9.0 or later on August 18, 2026. These are a dated snapshot, not a promise of ongoing compatibility: Pokémon GO updates can affect modified clients, and the vendor’s current listing may change.

The same vendor page lists a rooted Android launcher and a separate non-root download, plus a legacy version for Android 8.1 and below. PGSharp describes the rooted launcher as potentially safer; that is the vendor’s claim, not evidence that rooted use is safe under Niantic’s rules. The reviewed official information establishes Android support, not a current equivalent iOS version.
Plan and version details are listed on PGSharp’s home page.
How the features translate into everyday use
Movement and location controls
A map, joystick, tap-to-walk, teleportation, favorites, custom routes, and GPX support are the core of PGSharp’s appeal. They offer movement and location control beyond the official client, including access to places a player cannot physically visit. That is also the feature set most directly at odds with Pokémon GO’s location-based design and Niantic’s prohibition on falsifying location.

Catching and encounter speed
Quick Catch is designed to skip catch animations and return the player to the map. Enhanced Throw changes throw behavior, while Block Non-Shiny can keep a player from entering encounters that do not meet selected criteria. These shortcuts can reduce repetitive actions, but they do not guarantee catches or shinies, and they make play less like the ordinary game. PGSharp describes these controls on its feature page.

Discovery and Pokémon information
Nearby Radar, Pokémon feeds, Encounter IV, Inventory IV, Caught Preview, and PvP rank information put discovery and evaluation tools in one interface. They can help users filter what they see or assess a Pokémon, but an IV or rank overlay is information—not a guarantee that a Pokémon is rare, valuable, or suitable for a particular team.
Inventory and transfer automation
Auto Discard Items lets users set inventory thresholds, while Transfer on Catch can move Pokémon that fail chosen rules. This saves manual sorting, but a mistaken threshold or transfer rule can remove items or Pokémon the player meant to keep. Treat these as high-consequence settings, review every rule, and do not assume an automated decision can be undone.

Virtual Go Plus and assistant features
PGSharp describes Virtual Go Plus as attempting to catch nearby Pokémon and spin nearby PokéStops, subject to available Poké Balls and storage capacity. It also advertises assistants for raids and gym battles, gifts, buddies, and quests, along with auto-incubation and cutscene skipping. These functions go beyond displaying information: some automate or streamline gameplay actions. The vendor’s feature descriptions establish what it offers, not independent reliability or performance results.
Is PGSharp safe?
“Safe” can mean several different things. The evidence supports a clear answer on account-policy risk, but it does not establish that PGSharp is malware-free or that any setup avoids detection.

- Safe for a Pokémon GO account? No. Niantic prohibits modified or unofficial clients and location spoofing. Use creates a risk of gameplay restrictions, suspension, or account termination.
- Undetectable? There is no guarantee. Niantic says it may detect unauthorized software or exploits and does not disclose its internal detection mechanisms. A lack of public ban anecdotes cannot establish safety or a detection rate.
- Malware-free? Not established by the vendor’s feature or download pages alone. Avoid unofficial mirrors and cracked versions, but do not treat a download from the vendor as independent security certification.
- Private or secure with account credentials? An unofficial modified client creates a broader trust surface than the official app. Consider where the APK comes from, what access it receives, whether you enter game credentials, and whether the password is reused elsewhere. There is no basis here to claim that PGSharp steals credentials.
- Safe for the phone? The non-root route still uses unauthorized software. Rooting adds device-level complexity and potential security, warranty, update, and recovery considerations; it does not change Niantic’s rules.
- Safe with cooldowns or a subscription? Not established. Cooldown timing cannot authorize spoofing, and paying for Standard adds features rather than protection.
PGSharp publishes cooldown guidance, but that is vendor guidance, not a Niantic guarantee. Niantic’s Terms of Service remain the relevant policy for modified software and falsified location. Similarly, PGSharp’s “Hide PGSharp” control does not demonstrate that the client is undetectable.

What Niantic’s rules and enforcement policy say
Niantic prohibits unauthorized third-party software and falsifying device location. Its gameplay-policy enforcement update recommends official versions of the game and says rooted or jailbroken devices and third-party apps are unsupported. A rooted launcher therefore does not turn PGSharp into an authorized client.
Niantic’s Gameplay Fairness Policy describes a progressive strike process, while warning that some conduct can result in immediate termination:
- First strike: approximately seven days. Gameplay may be degraded, including reduced access to rare Pokémon and some social or event features.
- Second strike: approximately 30 days without account access.
- Third strike: permanent termination.
Niantic does not promise that every case passes through all three steps, or that the end of a restriction erases a prior violation from consideration. If an account is sanctioned, Niantic provides a ban-appeal process; it says very few terminations are overturned and does not publish the internal detection mechanisms.

Rooted or non-rooted: a technical choice, not a safety fix
The non-root download may be more accessible for someone who does not want to modify a phone. The rooted launcher is a different technical setup, with the extra device-level trade-offs that rooting entails. PGSharp’s characterization of the rooted option as potentially safer is promotional wording, not independent proof.
Neither route changes the central account issue: both involve PGSharp rather than the official client, and the product’s spoofing functions conflict with Niantic’s stated rules. There is no need to treat hiding the app, changing movement patterns, or following cooldown advice as a way to defeat enforcement.
Who might consider PGSharp—and who should avoid it
Someone curious about the feature set may find the free edition a lower-cost way to see what the vendor offers, while a player who knowingly accepts the policy risk may value Standard’s additional convenience. Neither is a fit for someone expecting a risk-free enhancement.
- Poor fit: players with a long-established main account, paid content or event access they value, competitive standing or a collection they do not want to risk; users uncomfortable installing APKs or modifying devices; children or people who need a simple, supported setup; and anyone seeking a guaranteed-safe spoofing method.
- Accessibility matters: illness, disability, mobility limits, weather, personal safety, or a lack of nearby play locations can make remote access appealing. Those needs explain interest in PGSharp, but they do not create an exception in the policies cited here. Players seeking accommodation should use Niantic’s official support channels rather than assume a modified client is approved.
What to use instead
For a play experience aligned with Niantic’s rules and official support, use the official Pokémon GO app from the applicable Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Samsung Galaxy Store listing. Niantic’s official Pokémon GO site is the starting point for official game information. The official client does not provide PGSharp’s spoofing, modified-client overlays, or automation, but it avoids knowingly using the prohibited software and location techniques described above.
