Pixel 10 owners got a modest emulation boost from Android 16 QPR3 Beta 1, but the clearest gains were in classic console games—not Windows PC games. In one test, Dolphin and NetherSX2 ran roughly 5–10% faster on average after a GPU-driver update. The best result was a 27% improvement in one game, while Vulkan performance remained inconsistent. That is a useful update for some Pixel 10 players, not proof that Pixel phones have become strong Winlator devices.
What changed on the Pixel 10?
Android 16 QPR3 Beta 1 brought the Pixel 10 series an updated Imagination GPU driver, reported as version 1.634.2906, along with Vulkan 1.4 support. The change was not prominently announced in the beta coverage; its practical effect was identified through driver inspection and game testing. Android Authority’s testing found improved results in several emulated games.
This applies specifically to the Pixel 10 generation and its Tensor G5/Imagination DXT graphics hardware. It is not a general Android improvement or an update for every Pixel. The tested software was QPR3 Beta 1, so results should not automatically be assumed for every later build or every Pixel 10 model.

How much faster did emulation get?
The gains varied by game and renderer. Android Authority characterized the typical improvement as roughly 5–10%, with an average around 9% across its tested emulation workloads. Its results included:

These are results from a particular test, not Google-certified benchmarks or a guarantee for other games, emulator versions, Pixel 10 models, or settings. The 27% F-Zero GX result is the standout case, not the typical one. In practice, a percentage gain may mean fewer dips or smoother play; it does not necessarily turn a game that misses its target into a locked 60fps experience.

Vulkan 1.4 is not the same as fixed Vulkan emulation
The driver’s Vulkan 1.4 support is a capability milestone, but Vulkan remained a weak spot in the cited Pixel 10 tests. OpenGL delivered the clearest and most consistent improvements. Under Vulkan, one game was essentially unchanged, and some workloads still performed poorly. Earlier testing also found Vulkan behind OpenGL in two of three tested games, with Need for Speed: Most Wanted falling to around 25fps or lower in that test. The earlier comparison illustrates why renderer choice needs to be made game by game.

Does this help with Windows games on Android?
There is no evidence here of a Pixel-specific Winlator performance boost. Dolphin and NetherSX2 emulate console hardware. Winlator is a different route: it runs Windows applications using components such as Wine, Box86/Box64, and graphics translation layers. Better console-emulation results do not establish better Windows-game performance.
Winlator v11.0 brought updates including Wine 10.10, Box64 v0.4.0, Turnip development drivers with Adreno 8-series patches, and an experimental Gladio OpenGL wrapper for Mali-based devices. Those are broader Winlator changes, not a demonstrated fix for the Pixel 10’s Imagination GPU. Winlator’s own project guidance emphasizes Snapdragon/Adreno devices and Turnip for its strongest compatibility.

- Instead of typing, use Gemini Live to have a natural, free-flowing conversation; point your camera at what you're curious about – like a sea creature at the aquarium – or chat - Gemini to brainstorm ideas or get things done across apps[5]
That distinction matters if you see advice to install a Turnip driver. Turnip is designed for Qualcomm Adreno GPUs; it is not a generic driver upgrade for the Pixel 10’s Imagination graphics. Do not install an Adreno driver package expecting it to work on a Tensor/Imagination phone. Windows-on-Android also remains highly dependent on the specific game, graphics wrapper, resolution, and driver, and can involve stutter, missing effects, crashes, or poor performance.

The update makes Pixel 10 emulation better than before, but it does not make the phone a class leader. In earlier testing, the Pixel 9 Pro XL often delivered more consistent emulation results than the Pixel 10, despite the newer phone’s Tensor G5 platform. The cited tester identified the Pixel 10’s newer Imagination GPU and less mature driver support as likely factors, but did not establish a definitive cause. Results vary by game and renderer, so this is not a universal claim that the Pixel 9 is faster at everything.

For someone buying primarily for Windows-on-Android or experimental emulation, a Snapdragon phone is generally the more promising choice because of Winlator’s stated Adreno focus and the Turnip ecosystem. Pixel 10 remains a general-purpose flagship whose camera and software strengths may matter more to most owners than emulator performance.
How Pixel 10 owners should test the improvement
- Install the available Android system update through Settings > System > Software updates. The benchmark evidence specifically concerns Android 16 QPR3 Beta 1; do not assume another build has identical performance.
- Check your build and GPU driver in a graphics-information utility or the emulator’s diagnostic screen if available. The driver identifier reported in the test was Imagination 1.634.2906.
- Compare like with like. Use the same game, emulator version, renderer, internal resolution, and thermal state before and after updating. Emulator updates can change performance independently of Android’s driver.
- Try OpenGL first in Dolphin if Vulkan is slow, unstable, or visually incorrect. Select the renderer per game rather than treating one as universally best.
- Reduce internal resolution if needed. Earlier testing used 4x resolution in Dolphin and 3x in NetherSX2—demanding settings that are not representative of every player’s needs. Lower resolution can help if frame rates or frame pacing are poor.
- Check sustained play, not just a short run. One earlier test saw the Pixel 10 GPU clock fall from 1.1GHz to 630MHz after about 6.5 minutes, at an internal temperature around 35°C. That is one test condition, not a universal thermal profile, but it shows why short benchmark gains may not persist through a long session.
Also distinguish frame rate from emulated game speed: when an emulator misses its frame target, the game may slow down rather than simply look less smooth. A title that reports a higher average in a short run may still have frame pacing or sustained-performance problems.
Verdict for players
If you already own a Pixel 10, the driver update is a welcome, potentially noticeable improvement for some Dolphin and NetherSX2 games, particularly with OpenGL. Treat the roughly 5–10% typical gain as a useful refinement, not a transformation. If you mean Windows PC games through Winlator, the cited evidence does not show that the Pixel update solves the phone’s graphics limitations; dedicated Windows-on-Android players should compare Snapdragon/Adreno devices instead.
