Pizza Boy is available again on Google Play. The Android emulator apps were reported removed in March 2024 after developer Davide Berra said he planned to take them down, but Google Play now lists the Pizza Boy A and C apps, with some listings updated in July 2026. The return’s exact timing and mechanism have not been established, so the old claim that Pizza Boy is “no longer available” is no longer accurate as a general status update.
What happened to Pizza Boy in 2024?
In March 2024, Berra said he had decided to remove the Pizza emulator apps from Google Play after seven years, citing family priorities. Contemporary coverage reported the removal or planned removal as a developer decision. Google’s general guidance says apps can become unavailable because a developer removes them or because Google removes or suspends them for policy reasons; that general policy does not establish that Google enforced a rule against Pizza Boy. Did Nintendo force the removal?
There is no verified evidence in the available reporting that Nintendo targeted Pizza Boy, sent Berra a legal notice, or caused Google to remove the apps. The announcement came shortly after Nintendo’s legal action against the Switch emulator Yuzu, so the timing prompted speculation in the emulation community. But reporting on the Pizza Boy decision attributed it to Berra’s family priorities, not to Nintendo. Android Authority’s coverage discusses the wider emulator context; the timing alone does not prove a causal link.
Contemporary reports also said a work-in-progress Pizza Boy DS project was discontinued around that period. That is historical context, not evidence of a Nintendo takedown—and the current Google Play listings do not indicate that a Pizza Boy DS emulator is active.

Which Pizza Boy apps are listed now?
Google Play currently shows several apps under the Pizza Emulators developer account. Their availability and price can vary by country, account, and device compatibility.

Choose the right version for your games
- For Game Boy Advance: Choose Pizza Boy A Basic or A Pro. The A listing specifically says it supports GBA games only; it will not run original Game Boy or Game Boy Color ROMs. See Pizza Boy A Basic or Pizza Boy A Pro.
- For Game Boy or Game Boy Color: Look at Pizza Boy C Basic or C Pro instead. The C line is distinct from the GBA-focused A line.
- For Sega systems: Pizza Boy SC is a separate product line, not a Nintendo emulator. Its listing describes Genesis/Mega Drive, Master System, Game Gear, and Mega CD support. See Pizza Boy SC Pro.
The A Pro listing advertises features including save states, rewind, fast-forward, customizable controls, hardware-controller support, local and Wi-Fi multiplayer, custom BIOS support, Google Drive synchronization, RetroAchievements, and ZIP/7z archive support. These are features advertised by the publisher, not independent performance test results. Check each listing for the current feature set and compatibility details.

- Check the same Google account. Search the current listing and review your Play Store app library and purchase history before buying a Pro version again. A past purchase does not guarantee that a republished listing will recognize it; the package and account association matter.
- Back up your saves. Copy save files before uninstalling, switching devices, or changing app versions. Save-data locations and compatibility can vary, so confirm the app’s own export or backup options where available.
- Know what a delisting would mean. Google says an app removed from Play is not automatically erased from devices where it is installed. Existing installations may continue to work but might not receive updates; redownloading can be unavailable while a listing is down, and Play billing may not work. Pizza Boy’s current listings may make redownloading possible now, but access still depends on the account, device, and region.
- Use the official listing when possible. It is the clearest route to updates and purchase support, and reduces the risks associated with files from unknown sources.
Should you install a Pizza Boy APK from another site?
A third-party APK may appear to offer access when an app is hard to find, but it is not automatically equivalent to the official Play build. An APK can be modified, infected, out of date, or falsely labeled as a Pro version. Different signing keys can also prevent normal updates, while different builds may store saves in different locations or fail to recognize a purchase. Avoid APK bundles that also promote game downloads.
Emulator software and game files are separate: Pizza Boy’s listings say games are not included. The legality of making, possessing, or downloading game files depends on the facts and the law in your jurisdiction. Use only game files obtained in a manner lawful where you are; this article does not provide ROM-download sources.
If the app does not appear in your Play Store
Its current listing does not guarantee availability to every user. Google Play availability can depend on country, device compatibility, account restrictions, parental controls, and changes to a listing. Check the Pizza Emulators developer page while signed into the Google account you intend to use, confirm that your device and Play country are supported, and review any parental-control or managed-account restrictions. Google outlines these factors in its availability guidance. Searching an old app title or package name can also fail if branding or listing details have changed.

Other options
If a Pizza Boy app does not suit your setup, alternatives include multi-system apps such as RetroArch or Lemuroid, and dedicated options such as My Boy!, My OldBoy!, GBA.emu, or GBC.emu. They differ in setup, interface, supported systems, and features; check their current official listings and compatibility rather than assuming they work the same way. Official Nintendo releases and collections are another route for licensed access where available, but they are not the same as loading personal game files and may require a subscription or separate purchase.
