The monthly offer ran August 6 through September 2, 2024; a separate Game Catalog refresh for Extra and Premium members began August 20. The Essential claim window is closed, so these dates do not mean the games are claimable now.
August 2024 Essential monthly games
All PlayStation Plus members could add these three games to their libraries during the August monthly offer. Sony’s announcement gave September 2, 2024, as the last day to claim them. Members who claimed a monthly game can play it while their PlayStation Plus membership remains active; an unclaimed August 2024 offer cannot be claimed now through that expired promotion. Sony’s July 31 announcement lists the platforms and describes the games.

| Game | Platforms | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga | PS4, PS5 | A LEGO retelling of all nine saga films, with hundreds of playable characters and vehicles, according to Sony. |
| Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach | PS4, PS5 | Survival horror in which Gregory is trapped overnight in the Mega Pizzaplex. |
| Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights | PS4 | A dark-fantasy 2D action RPG set in a destroyed kingdom. |
These were monthly games, not a Game Catalog rotation: the offer was open to all membership tiers, subject to claiming them before it ended. If you want to own LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga rather than rely on a subscription claim, buying a PS4 or PS5 edition is a separate option.
Extra and Premium Game Catalog additions
Sony announced that the following Game Catalog titles would become playable on August 20, 2024, for Extra and Premium members. Unlike the Essential monthly games, these were catalog access rather than a limited-time monthly claim. Sony cautioned that the catalog lineup may differ by region and advised members to check their local PlayStation Store when the lineup releases. The list below reflects the announced lineup, not a guarantee of current availability.

| Cult of the Lamb | PS4, PS5 | Roguelike action combined with community-building. |
| Ride 5 | PS5 | Motorcycle racing. Sony’s announcement describes more than 35 tracks and more than 200 bikes. |
| Watch Dogs 2 | PS4 | Open-world action; Sony identified it as a PlayStation Plus re-release. |
| Sword Art Online: Last Recollection | PS4, PS5 | Action RPG based on the Sword Art Online franchise. |

These genre descriptions identify the broad play styles; they are not independent reviews or performance assessments. The track and bike figures for Ride 5 are Sony’s published feature description, not the result of independent measurement. See Sony’s August 14 Game Catalog announcement for its full descriptions and regional availability caveat.
Premium-specific offerings
The same August announcement separately presented these offerings under its Premium section; they should not be confused with the main Extra and Premium Game Catalog list above.

How the August lineups differed
| Lineup | Membership tier | Key date | How access worked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential monthly games | All PlayStation Plus members | August 6–September 2, 2024 | Members had to claim the games during the offer window; claimed games remained playable while membership was active. |
| Main Game Catalog additions | Extra or Premium | Available from August 20, 2024 | Catalog access; availability can differ by region and can change over time. |
| Premium-specific offerings | Premium | Announced for the August refresh | Listed separately by Sony from the main Extra and Premium catalog additions. |
For general context on how monthly games fit into membership, see Sony’s PS5 owners’ guide. The historical August dates establish what Sony announced then, not whether a title remains in a regional catalog today; check the PlayStation Store for present availability.
