On March 26, 2026, an attack took place at Pokémon Center MEGA TOKYO in Sunshine City, Higashi-Ikebukuro, Tokyo. The Associated Press reported that a woman in her 20s, believed to be an employee, and a male attacker died after a stabbing. When did the store reopen?
The company initially said on May 29 that it was aiming to reopen in September while preparing partial renovations and stronger safety measures for staff. It later updated that plan: its July 27 announcement set August 24, 2026, as the reopening date for both the store and Pikachu Sweets.
