The Pokémon-themed puzzle game is available on iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, with different content and payment models depending on platform.
What is Pokémon Friends?
Set in Think Town, Pokémon Friends combines brainteasers, digital plush collecting, and room decoration. Solving puzzles earns yarn, which you use in the Plush-O-Matic to make Pokémon plush. Residents then ask for help with friend quests, while your collection can decorate customizable rooms with furniture and wallpaper.
Nintendo’s launch recap described the game as having more than 1,200 puzzles and up to 150 plush. Puzzle examples include connecting Pikachu’s electric current in one continuous line and rolling Spheal through a puzzle. The Pokémon Company says Wonderfy Inc., whose educational work includes Think!Think!, originated the puzzle concepts; the Pokémon Friends team expanded them into the game’s larger puzzle set. The development team’s stated aim was to encourage critical thinking, but the available official material does not establish a measured educational effect.
The Pokémon Company reported on February 6, 2026, that the game passed one million downloads within its first month of release.

Where can you play it?
The official product information lists iOS and Android for mobile, and Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch OLED, and Nintendo Switch Lite for the console version. Mobile is free to start, with optional in-game purchases, and requires a compatible smart device and a persistent internet connection. The Switch version is a digital download.
How do the mobile and Switch versions differ?
The main distinction is how much content is available without additional payment. The free-to-start mobile version limits players to three puzzles per day. The paid Switch version includes the mobile free content and the Basic Pack, which removes that daily puzzle limit.

The official content counts are presented in different ways: Nintendo’s launch recap says more than 1,200 puzzles and up to 150 plush, while the mobile page describes approximately 1,200 variations and 30 plush in its no-cost content. These figures refer to different descriptions and should not be read as a guarantee that every item is included in the free mobile version.
Prices vary by region and store; check the relevant platform listing for current pricing. On Switch, the Basic Pack is the prerequisite for the additional DLC listed by the official product page.

What changed after launch?
Later console updates added difficulty options and content. Nintendo Support’s dated notes list version 1.1.0 on December 2, 2025, as adding a preferred-difficulty choice after the tutorial, new puzzles and collectible content, new friend quests, and other changes. Version 1.1.4, dated February 3, 2026, added an option to lower a puzzle’s difficulty by one level and replay it. Version 1.1.5, dated February 24, 2026, adjusted plush availability and fixed issues. Those notes do not establish the current live version across every platform, so check the platform’s own update channel for the latest version.

If you want a casual Pokémon puzzle game, mobile offers a free-to-start way to try its core loop, but its three-puzzle daily limit makes it a restricted option for longer sessions. Switch is the more direct fit if you want to play without that daily limit: its paid version includes the Basic Pack. The optional Puzzle On! packs are for players who want their additional puzzles and room collectibles.
