Yes, Niantic has acknowledged increased Pokémon GO crashes on iOS 26 devices, specifically iPhone 13 and older, and lists the issue as “Investigating.” The notice does not say that all lag or freezing has the same cause. For other symptoms, use the separate app and connection troubleshooting steps below.
What Pokémon GO has acknowledged
The Pokémon GO Help Center says, “Trainers on iOS 26 are experiencing increased rates of crashes on iPhone 13 and older.” Its notice lists the status as “Investigating.” It does not give a cause, affected-player count, crash-rate figure, fix date, or final resolution. As a temporary mitigation, Niantic says it has removed or downgraded some in-game elements, including the post-battle trainer achievements screen and objects in the distance, to help prevent crashes. The notice does not recommend buying a new phone or accessory.
This is a defined crash issue, not confirmation that every report of Pokémon GO lag or freezing has the same cause. The notice does not establish that Android devices, newer iPhones, ordinary network sluggishness, or every kind of freeze is affected.

Choose troubleshooting by symptom
These are published support steps for general app instability, battle freezes, and sluggish connections. They are worth trying where they match your symptom, but Niantic does not describe them as a guaranteed fix for the iOS 26 crash issue.

If Pokémon GO is generally unstable
On iPhone or iPad
- Update Pokémon GO from the App Store.
- Check that your internet connection is reliable. If needed, switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data.
- In the game’s settings, refresh game data. Then check Adventure Sync, because refreshing may turn it off.
- Set your device’s date and time to update automatically.
- If the earlier steps do not help, reinstall the official App Store version of Pokémon GO.

On Android
- Update Pokémon GO from the Play Store.
- Check your connection and switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data if needed.
- Refresh game data in the game’s settings, then check Adventure Sync.
- Set date, time, and time zone to update automatically.
- Clear the Pokémon GO cache and check whether background-data restrictions are limiting the game.
- If the problem continues, reinstall the official Play Store version.

If the game freezes during a battle
- Restart Pokémon GO; if the freeze continues, restart your device.
- In Pokémon GO, open Settings > Advanced Settings and clear the cache.
- Reconfigure Adventure Mode settings afterward: Niantic says clearing cache resets them.
- If the freeze remains, reinstall the game. On Android, the battle-freeze guidance also allows clearing the app’s cache and data in device settings.

If gameplay feels like network lag
- Confirm that mobile data is enabled and check roaming settings if you are roaming.
- Try playing in a less congested area or a more open space. High demand and physical barriers can affect wireless performance.
- If gameplay feels sluggish on 5G, try 4G/LTE instead.
- Check whether your mobile plan provides enough data for your play.
Niantic lists these as connection checks in its network troubleshooting guidance and network best practices. They address possible connection problems; they are not a stated fix for the iOS 26 crash notice.

The Help Center’s status is “Investigating,” and the notice gives no resolution date. Check Niantic’s known-issues page for a status change rather than assuming that a general troubleshooting step resolves the acknowledged crash issue.
