Confirm the boss is Mega Charizard X

Which attacks are effective against Mega Charizard X?
Use Pokémon that can deal damage with Dragon-, Ground-, or Rock-type attacks. Choose based on the attacks your roster can actually use, not just a Pokémon’s species or headline rating.
Choose a lineup for your raid group
- Prioritize effective attacks. A Pokémon with a recommended Dragon, Ground, or Rock move is a useful candidate; check its moves before the raid.
- Balance damage and survival. A high-damage option may contribute less if it faints quickly. Consider how much healing and relobbying your group can manage.
- Account for conditions. Weather and the raid party affect practical performance. Counter rankings are estimates, not guarantees; the cited analysis models variables including weather and Shadow Pokémon stat changes.
- Coordinate where possible. A larger or better-coordinated group can defeat the boss faster, which matters for Mega Energy rewards.

Using a Mega-Evolved Pokémon in the raid
Mega-Evolved allies provide attack boosts during raids, but the boosts do not stack when multiple Trainers use Mega Evolution. If you want to use Charizard as your Mega teammate, select the X form in the raid lobby and make sure you have the energy associated with that form. Mega Evolution can be activated from the lobby, and the form remains active for eight hours. See Niantic’s Mega Evolution help page for the game mechanic.
What rewards does a Mega Charizard X raid give?
Winning a Mega Raid awards Mega Energy, and the post-raid encounter is with Charizard in its regular, non-Mega form—not Mega Charizard X. Pokémon.com gives an indicative range of 150–250 Mega Energy per successful Mega Raid, depending on how quickly the boss is defeated; it is a guidance range, not a guaranteed payout. Charizard’s two Mega forms use separately tracked energy. If you Mega-Evolve Charizard as X, the energy and future cost reduction apply to that form; progress for X does not reduce the cost of Mega Evolving it as Y. Niantic explains Mega Energy in its Mega Energy guide.
