Tapu Lele is a Psychic- and Fairy-type Raid Boss in Pokémon GO, so Poison, Ghost, and Steel attacks are super effective. Which counter is safest depends on its moves: Poison Pokémon can take heavy Psychic damage, while Ghost Pokémon may be hit by Ghost-type Astonish. Tapu Lele’s weaknesses and resistances
Tapu Lele’s dual Psychic/Fairy typing makes Poison, Ghost, and Steel attacks effective against it. Fighting- and Psychic-type attacks are resisted, so avoid relying on those types for damage. Bulbapedia’s Pokémon GO entry lists these matchups.
Best counter types—and the moves to watch
There is no single counter choice that is equally safe against every Tapu Lele moveset. Choose attackers that use one of its three weaknesses, then weigh damage against the chance of taking super-effective or otherwise threatening damage in return. The listed raid moves include Psychic, Fairy, Fighting, and Ghost attacks.
Poison attackers
Poison attacks exploit Tapu Lele’s weakness, but a Poison-type Pokémon may be vulnerable to its Psychic fast move, Confusion, or charged moves such as Psyshock and Future Sight. If the boss is using Psychic damage, a Poison attacker may have difficulty staying in the battle even while dealing effective damage.

Ghost attackers
Ghost attacks are also super effective. However, Tapu Lele can use Astonish, a Ghost-type fast move, which can threaten Ghost Pokémon in return. Consider this tradeoff when choosing a Ghost attacker rather than assuming that type effectiveness alone makes it the safest option.
Steel attackers
Steel attacks exploit Tapu Lele’s weakness and can be a useful option when you want to avoid the specific Poison-versus-Psychic and Ghost-versus-Ghost vulnerabilities described above. Check each Pokémon’s individual typing and the boss’s moves; the available move information does not establish one universally safest Steel counter.

Tapu Lele’s listed charged moves are Psyshock, Moonblast, Focus Blast, Future Sight, Draining Kiss, and Nature’s Madness. Because the possible moves span several types, counter durability can change from one raid to another. The available counter information does not support a definitive ranked list or precise DPS, time-to-win, or minimum-trainer claims; consult detailed current simulations if you need those figures.
Check whether Tapu Lele is currently in raids
Tapu Lele first appeared in five-star raids on March 22, 2022, and its shiny became available on February 8, 2023, according to Bulbapedia’s Pokémon GO reference. Those are historical dates, not evidence of a current or upcoming raid rotation.
