Berry trees in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield offer pools of possible berries, not guaranteed drops. Find the berry you need in the effect guide below, then check the location table for a tree that can yield it. Shake carefully: another shake may add items, but shaking too far risks losing the fallen berries.
How to use this berry guide
Use the berry’s effect to identify what you need, then use the area list to pick a tree yield pool. The listed berries are possibilities, not a promise that a particular tree will drop a particular berry each time. Serebii’s berry-tree guide includes the full area-by-area list, including Wild Area and expansion locations; its berry index lists item effects and additional acquisition sources.
Berry tree locations and possible yields
The following main-game areas have the listed possible berry yields. Route 7 has two trees; its pool below combines the yields listed for both. The named pools are not guaranteed drops.
| Area | Possible berries |
|---|---|
| Route 3 | Oran, Persim, Rawst |
| Route 4 | Cheri, Pecha, Oran, Leppa |
| Route 5 | Chesto, Chilan, Cheri, Persim |
| Route 6 | Sitrus, Rawst, Leppa, Persim |
| Route 7 (two trees combined) | Aspear, Figy, Ganlon, Liechi, Pomeg, Kelpsy, Qualot, Hondew, Grepa, Tamato, Lum |
| Route 9, Circhester Bay | Wiki, Aguav, Iapapa, Petaya, Apicot |
| Route 9, Outer Spikemuth | Lum, Roseli, Chople, Tanga, Salac |
| Axew’s Eye | Salac, Lum, Kee, Maranga, Kebia, Colbur |
For exact pools in other areas, consult the complete Serebii tree listing. It covers additional Wild Area trees, plus Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra areas, including Fields of Honor, Soothing Wetlands, Loop Lagoon, Challenge Beach, Forest of Focus, Training Lowlands, Insular Sea, Stepping-Stone Sea, Workout Sea, Slippery Slope, Frostpoint Field, Giant’s Bed, and Ballimere Lake. Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra are expansion areas.

What berries do
Berries cover several different needs: some cure status, restore HP or PP, soften a super-effective hit, or activate a stat boost when the holder is low on HP. Others raise friendship while lowering a corresponding base stat. They are also curry ingredients, and their flavor and cooking performance affect curry outcomes. The item index provides the full berry-by-berry effects and acquisition entries.
- Status cures: Cheri cures paralysis. Its listed sources include Routes 3, 4, and 5, Rolling Fields, and Watchtower Ruins.
- PP recovery: Leppa restores 10 PP to a depleted move. Listed locations include Routes 4 and 6, Dappled Grove, Giant’s Seat, Hammerlocke Hills, Motostoke Riverbank, Watchtower Ruins, and expansion areas.
- HP recovery: Sitrus restores some HP in battle. It is listed at Route 6, several Wild Area locations, Forest of Focus, Crown Tundra locations, and other sources.
- Friendship and stat trade-off: Pomeg, Kelpsy, Qualot, Hondew, Grepa, and Tamato increase friendship while reducing a corresponding base stat. Route 7 is among their listed tree sources.
- Type-resistance: These berries reduce damage from one super-effective attack of a particular type. For example, Chople covers Fighting and Roseli covers Fairy.
Some berries have acquisition sources beyond trees, including Max Raid Battle rewards, shops, or wild Pokémon. Check the individual item entry for the berry you want rather than assuming a tree is the only source.

How to shake trees without losing berries
Berry trees can be shaken again after berries fall, but each extra shake carries risk. Watch the leaves: they may stay still, shake somewhat, or shake violently. Continuing after a violent shake can trigger a Pokémon attack, and nearby Pokémon may steal berries that have already fallen. A shake yields one to three items, according to Bulbapedia’s berry mechanics entry.
- Interact with a berry tree and shake it to make berries fall.
- Collect the fallen berries when you are satisfied with the yield, or choose to shake again for a chance at more.
- If leaves shake violently, stop rather than risk an attack and the loss of fallen items.
- Leave after harvesting or an attack; that tree cannot be shaken again until the next day.
Trees reset daily. Some trees in the northern Wild Area can also drop Leftovers, and some Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra trees can drop Apricorns. Generation VIII removed the berry growth mechanic, so berries are obtained through sources such as tree shakes rather than growing planted berries.

Other ways to get berries
Berry trees are the routine source, but they are not the only one. Max Raid Battles can reward berries, and individual berry entries may list shops or wild Pokémon as sources. Berry flavor also makes the items useful outside battle: adding them to curry contributes to its flavor and outcome.
