Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteUpdated October 8, 2026: Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt and Scarlet & Violet—White Flare are no longer upcoming. The paired English expansions released on July 18, 2025, with a shared focus on all 156 Pokémon originally discovered in Unova.
What are Black Bolt and White Flare?
Black Bolt and White Flare are two related Pokémon Trading Card Game expansions built around Unova, the region introduced in Pokémon Black and Pokémon White. Pokémon’s official announcement described the pair as highlighting all 156 Pokémon originally discovered in Unova. The English release date was July 18, 2025.
The sets are separate, but the Unova-wide card project spans both: specialist announcement coverage reported that each of the 156 Unova Pokémon would receive an Illustration Rare or Special Illustration Rare card somewhere across the paired release. That does not mean every card in either set has one of those rarities.
How many cards are in the two sets?
PokéBeach’s May 6, 2025 announcement coverage reported more than 170 cards in each set—so the combined set lists were described as having over 300 cards. It also reported more than 65 Illustration Rare cards and more than five Special Illustration Rare cards per set. These are announcement-era release specifications reported by PokéBeach, not a single total that includes every variant or finish.

The larger figure in that coverage—over 800—counts card treatments across the paired release: each Pokémon’s regular card, reverse holo, Poké Ball reverse holo, Master Ball reverse holo, and Illustration Rare or Special Illustration Rare treatment. It is a count of versions and finishes, not the number of distinct cards in the two set lists. See PokéBeach’s announcement report for the detailed breakdown.
Does every Unova Pokémon get an Illustration Rare?
Across Black Bolt and White Flare, yes: PokéBeach reported that every one of the 156 Pokémon originally discovered in Unova would have an Illustration Rare or Special Illustration Rare. The claim applies to the pair collectively, not to each set individually, and it does not mean all 156 receive the same rarity.

- The Pokémon TCG: Unova Poster Collection includes 3 foil promo cards featuring Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott.
- This also includes 2 Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt booster packs and 2 Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—White Flare booster packs.

That distinction matters when looking at a particular set list or opening a product: the project promises a special illustration treatment for each Unova Pokémon across the two expansions, not that every pack contains one or that either set alone includes the complete lineup.
