Pokémon Red & Pokémon Blue Game Music Collection: Game Boy Jukebox is an official, palm-sized Pokémon collectible released on February 27, 2026, for the franchise’s 30th anniversary. It includes 45 miniature cartridges, each selecting a melody or sound effect from the original Pokémon Red and Blue era.
The important catch: this is a jukebox, not a playable Game Boy or a conventional MP3 player. Its appeal is the physical cartridge-swapping gimmick, Game Boy-inspired presentation, and licensed nostalgia—not practical everyday music playback.
What the Pokémon Game Boy Jukebox is
The product is officially called Pokémon Red & Pokémon Blue Game Music Collection: Game Boy Jukebox. It is styled after the original Game Boy and was released through Pokémon’s official regional retail channels for the 30th anniversary.

Despite its shape, it does not run Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, or other Game Boy software. The included cartridges are dedicated music-selection tokens, not playable game cartridges. The safest description is “Game Boy-shaped jukebox” or “miniature Pokémon music player”.

- Choose one of the 45 miniature cartridges.
- Insert it into the jukebox’s cartridge slot.
- The device plays the associated melody or sound effect.

The physical interaction is the product’s central gimmick. Instead of selecting songs from a digital menu, you handle a small collection of cartridges modeled around the original games. Available coverage establishes the one-cartridge-per-selection behavior, but it does not confirm whether each cartridge stores audio independently or simply triggers content stored inside the player.

What music is included?
The collection contains 45 selected melodies or sound effects from the original Pokémon Red and Blue soundtrack. The official Pokémon Singapore announcement refers to 45 familiar songs, while launch coverage more precisely describes a mixture of melodies and sound effects.
This is not a complete Pokémon music library. It focuses on the first-generation Red/Blue-era material and is intended to reproduce the distinctive Game Boy-style sound. During the Pokémon Presents introduction, longtime Pokémon composer Junichi Masuda said particular care was taken to make the audio sound like it did on the Game Boy; that is an attributed design claim, not an independent sound-quality test.
The Japanese version uses the Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green pairing rather than the Western Red and Blue titles, so packaging and regional presentation may differ.

Is it a real Game Boy?
No. The device copies the general shape and cartridge interaction of Nintendo’s classic handheld, but it is not presented as a gaming system. It cannot play Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, normal Game Boy cartridges, or other Game Boy software. Its screen is a display element for cartridge-associated artwork rather than a gameplay screen.

There is also no confirmed support for user-supplied MP3 files, Bluetooth audio, streaming, USB music transfer, expandable storage, or an SD card. Calling it an “MP3 player” without that qualification would be misleading.

For the United States, check the official Pokémon Center product page for the current price and stock. The Singapore announcement said the product would launch through Pokémon Store Online Singapore on Lazada from February 28, 2026, at 12:00 a.m. SGT, and would not be sold through Pokémon Center Singapore.

Some regional listings reportedly sold out shortly after launch, including observations for the US and UK. That is historical launch-period information, not proof that the item is permanently unavailable or sold out worldwide. Regional Pokémon Center stock can change, so buyers should check the relevant official store rather than relying on resale listings.
