Its passive rewards rotations that land hits with multiple attack types, while its ascension to level 90 takes 10 different material types. Here are its stats, full material totals, reliable farming routes, and a practical way to judge which bow characters suit it.
Polar Star stats and passive
At level 90, Polar Star has 608 Base ATK and 33.1% CRIT Rate. Its passive, Daylight’s Augury, increases Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst DMG, then builds ATK bonuses as different attack types hit opponents.
The weapon gains one Ashen Nightstar stack when a Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Elemental Skill, or Elemental Burst hits an opponent. Each of those four types is tracked independently, and stacks last 12 seconds. The Skill and Burst DMG increase and the ATK bonus by stack count vary by refinement:

The practical distinction is that the ATK bonus depends on how many of the four hit categories have been registered, not simply how many times one category hits. A rotation that lands several categories can build more stacks than repeated hits from just one category.

How to farm the materials
HoYoverse’s general weapon-upgrade guidance says Weapon Ascension Materials come from specific Domains of Forgery or by crafting higher grades from lower-rarity materials at a Crafting Bench. Domain materials rotate by day, so check the in-game domain schedule for the mask material you need rather than relying on a fixed weekday remembered from an older guide. Farm enemy drops and craft higher grades
Use the Adventurer’s Handbook to locate the relevant enemies for the Concealed items and Spectral drops. It tracks enemy sources in-game; collect the lower-grade drops and use the Crafting Bench to combine them into the higher grades required by the list.

Plan the other upgrade costs separately
- Weapon Enhancement Ores: HoYoverse identifies daily Blacksmith crafting and Expeditions as sources.
- Mora: Blossom of Wealth, commissions, and quests are listed farming options.
- Supplementary options: Paimon’s Bargains and limited-time events may help with materials. HoYoverse also points to the HoYoLAB Teyvat Interactive Map for planning.
The official guidance establishes these general routes but does not provide a current exact domain day or a complete location list for each Polar Star ingredient. Use the in-game schedule and Handbook for the current specifics.

Rather than treating that list as a universal ranking, evaluate a character’s rotation against the weapon’s mechanics:
- Can the rotation land several distinct hit types? Polar Star tracks Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Skill, and Burst hits independently. A kit and rotation that use more of those categories can access more of the passive’s stack tiers.
- How much damage comes from Skill and Burst? The passive’s direct Skill and Burst DMG increase is most relevant when those parts of a character’s damage matter in your build.
- Does the CRIT Rate fit the build? Its 33.1% CRIT Rate is a substantial stat contribution. Whether that helps depends on the character’s artifacts and team setup, so account for existing stats when comparing weapons.
Tartaglia is often presented as Polar Star’s signature wielder; a Game8 search-result snippet also describes Skill- and Burst-focused damage dealers as potential beneficiaries. That snippet is limited evidence, however, and it does not establish a comparative ranking. A definitive “best character” answer would require character-specific comparisons with stated assumptions for rotation, team, refinement, and artifacts.
