Their official design tradeoff is damage versus speed: Balanced sits in the middle, Fencing favors speed, and Block favors damage. There is no single best pick for every build; compare the weapon card in your current armoury and choose for your priorities.
How do the Power Sword variants differ?
Focus Entertainment describes the three melee profiles in its Update 9.0 notes in relative terms. These are design-level comparisons, not a complete set of current numerical stats.

The notes do not provide a full current Power Sword comparison for damage, speed, cleave, or parry timing. Treat the labels as a guide to relative roles, then check the live weapon card for the version available to your class and progression level. Avoid assuming that the label alone establishes how a weapon will perform in every encounter.

Choose according to the tradeoff you want, rather than a universal ranking:

- Pick Balanced when you want moderate damage and speed without leaning hard toward either stat.
- Pick Fencing when you prefer the fastest profile and are willing to accept the lowest damage description.
- Pick Block when you prefer the highest damage description and are willing to accept the slowest profile.
These are conditional recommendations based on Focus’s stated archetype roles, not a claim that one version has the best results in a particular mission or build. Check the current in-game card and your class setup before committing to a variant.
Can Tactical use the Power Sword?
Yes. Warhammer Community’s October 1, 2026 anniversary-update article reports that Tactical can equip the Power Sword, but doing so costs the class its primary weapon. That makes it a loadout tradeoff: you gain the sword option while giving up the ranged primary slot. Check the live armoury for the current class options, as later game updates may change availability.

What changed in patches?
Ground-pound damage and Assault
Focus’s Update 9.0 notes record that Power Sword ground-pound damage had been increased in Patch 8.0. Game Director Dmitry Grigorenko said the change was not listed in the earlier patch notes; Focus framed it as a way to broaden Assault build choices beyond an implied need to use only the Thunder Hammer or Power Fist. This change concerns the ground-pound attack, not a stated increase to ordinary Power Sword attacks. See the Update 9.0 notes.
Block-version speed
Focus’s Patch 10.0 notes say speed increased for all Block Power Sword versions. This records a change made in that patch; it does not supply a complete current numerical comparison against Balanced or Fencing versions.

Relic and Artificer progression
Update 9.0 states that Relic melee weapons will always have better stats than Artificer versions under the progression rule introduced there. That is a rule described for that update, not a guarantee against changes in a later patch. Compare the weapon cards in-game if you need current values.

It is a meaningful option if its damage-speed profile suits your play style and class loadout. The official notes establish the relative roles, a ground-pound adjustment relevant to Assault, and a speed increase for Block versions; they do not establish a universal tier ranking or a complete present-day stat comparison. The most reliable choice is the version whose live in-game stats fit the job you want it to do.

Focus announced further content in a May 21, 2026 Purgation announcement, but that announcement does not give Power Sword-specific current stats. Patch notes are useful records of changes, not substitutes for checking the current armoury.
