Project S.U.N.D.I.A.L. is scheduled to launch on PC through Steam on April 27, 2027, according to Ice Quake Studios’ September 30, 2026 announcement. Steam’s listing still says “Coming soon” and that the game is not yet available, so the announced date has not yet appeared as Steam’s release-date listing.
When does Project S.U.N.D.I.A.L. come out?

The Steam page identifies Ice Quake Games as developer and Ice Quake Studios as publisher. It offers a wishlist option and a request for playtest access, but the game is not yet available to play or buy. The announcement does not state a price or identify a physical edition.
What kind of game is Project S.U.N.D.I.A.L.?
It is described as a 2D, top-down, pixel-art PvPvE extraction shooter, with both single-player and online multiplayer announced. Ice Quake Studios names S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Escape from Tarkov as inspirations for bringing that kind of experience into a 2D setting.

Project lead Eldar Blake said: “We’ve been working on S.U.N.D.I.A.L. for a long time, so finally putting a release date on it is a huge moment for us. The idea was to take what we love about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Escape from Tarkov and see what that feeling could become in a 2D world.”
How is a run expected to work?
The announced loop is built around entering a dangerous region, taking on contracts and searching for valuable equipment, then reaching an extraction point alive. Death can mean losing the loot carried on that run; surviving lets players keep recovered gear to improve their equipment and develop a hideout.

The risk-and-reward structure is central to the pitch: carrying more valuable equipment may make a successful return worthwhile, but the announcement says carried items can be lost if a run ends in death. The specific rules for loss, extraction, and progression are not detailed in the announcement.
Which features has the studio announced?
- Survival pressures: wounds, radiation, hunger, and weather.
- Equipment and progression: weapon modification and hideout development using recovered gear.

What is confirmed—and what is not?
The clearest confirmed details are the announced PC/Steam date, the stated 2D top-down PvPvE format, single-player and online multiplayer plans, and the broad extraction-and-progression loop. Steam remains the best place to check current availability and playtest access; the studio’s date announcement is the source for April 27, 2027.
