Sony’s Community Game Help is already available on PS5, not still awaiting release: Sony announced it on March 26, 2024, and confirmed the update was live on May 7, 2024. In supported games, it adds moderated videos made from opted-in players’ gameplay to the console’s Game Help system. Players can view hints without PlayStation Plus; contributing requires an adult account.
What Community Game Help does
Community Game Help expands PS5’s existing Game Help feature. Instead of relying only on guidance supplied by game developers, supported objectives can also show video hints drawn from gameplay footage submitted by players who opted in. The clips are linked to in-game objectives, such as missions or trophies, rather than offered as a general video-sharing feed. Sony describes the feature on its PS5 features page.
Sony’s 2021 overview of Game Help introduced it as contextual assistance within the console. Community clips add another source of help alongside developer-created guidance; they do not replace it. The same Game Help content can also be viewed through the PlayStation App.
How to view a Game Help video
- Start a PS5 game that supports Game Help.
- Press the PS button to open the Control Center.
- Select the Game Help card.
- Choose an objective that offers help, then select Play if a video is available.
Sony’s Game Help support instructions describe this route. A card or video will not necessarily appear for every game or objective. If you do not see one, the title or specific activity may not be supported.

How to contribute gameplay footage
Contributing is optional. On PS5, go to Settings > Captures & Broadcasts > Captures > Auto Captures > Community Game Help > Participate. Menu wording can differ slightly by language or regional interface. Sony limits participation to adult accounts, so a child account cannot contribute.
After you opt in, the console automatically captures gameplay at certain in-game moments. You do not need to record, edit, or upload a clip yourself. Sony says submitted footage is reviewed by a moderator and may be published as a Game Help hint if approved; opting in does not mean every capture will appear. The console sends a notification if one of your videos is published.

A Monthly Capture Limit setting lets contributors control how many videos may be captured each month. Sony’s public guidance does not establish a universal numeric limit, so check the current setting on your console rather than relying on a number from an older report. Sony’s announcement and launch update explain the capture and review process. Sony also says uploaded videos are removed from the console; Community Game Help should not be treated as a personal clip-archive or backup service.
Privacy, visibility, and opting out
Sony says Community Game Help uploads raw gameplay footage, not webcam footage, microphone audio, or Party chat audio. That does not guarantee a clip is free of identifying information: an online ID or chat message rendered on the game screen may be visible in the footage.

You can opt out through the Community Game Help settings. Sony’s support page says opting out stops further captures and uploads, removes published videos from Game Help, and permanently deletes the videos. Sony does not state a removal timeframe. If you want to keep gameplay footage for yourself, use the PS5’s ordinary capture tools separately.
Does Community Game Help require PlayStation Plus?
No PlayStation Plus subscription is required to access the enhanced Game Help experience with community content, according to Sony’s announcement. That does not make Game Help available in every game: the title and objective still need to support it. Any online multiplayer subscription requirement for a particular game is a separate matter.

Which games support it?
Sony’s March 2024 announcement said the feature would begin in selected games later that year, naming Granblue Fantasy: Relink and Stellar Blade as early examples. On May 7, 2024, Sony updated the announcement to say the system update was live for players with the latest system software at that time. Sony’s current feature page presents Community Game Help as an existing PS5 feature.
Those launch examples are not a complete or permanent support list. Game and objective availability can vary, and Sony’s public feature page does not provide a definitive catalogue for every region and game version. If a feature or setting is missing, update the PS5 system software, check the Auto Captures menu, confirm the account is an adult account if you intend to contribute, and consult PlayStation Support for your region.

Spoilers and practical limits
Game Help can cover objectives, trophies, locations, and story progression. Sony’s support documentation notes that storyline spoilers may appear as hidden activities. Even a targeted hint can reveal a solution, item, location, or encounter, so avoid opening hidden or story-related activities if you want to stay spoiler-free.
- Useful when: you want an objective-linked hint without leaving the game to search another device or app.
- Less useful when: the game or activity has no Game Help coverage, or you want a comprehensive walkthrough rather than a focused hint.
- Compared with a normal capture: a regular PS5 clip is your own recording; Community Game Help routes eligible, approved footage to a supported objective.
- Compared with a YouTube search: Game Help presents assistance in the console’s game context, while an external search can offer broader coverage but may require leaving the game or using another device.
Community Game Help is a contextual assistance feature, not a guarantee of complete coverage or spoiler-free guidance. Players can use available hints without contributing their own footage.
