Can you play PS5 games on PC?
Whether retail PS5 games can be played on a PC through a genuine, functioning emulator is not established. RPCS5’s download page claims to offer builds for Windows, macOS, and Linux, but those listings do not verify that the software works or that it runs commercial games. There is not enough reliable evidence to recommend a particular PS5 emulator or promise a playable PC experience.
What files does a PS5 emulator need?
RPCS5’s Getting Started page says users can add a folder of game files or insert an original PS5 disc, and that the software requires a firmware file named PS5UPDATE.PUP. The page also says legitimate firmware is required and should not be redistributed. These are unverified instructions from the site, not a confirmed workflow; the available evidence does not establish that the claimed emulator can use those files or discs.

Which PS5 games are compatible?
No trustworthy, independently tested game-by-game compatibility list or reliable compatibility figures are available in the evidence for this article. That means there is no substantiated list of commercial PS5 games that can be said to work, nor a defensible compatibility percentage. A game’s appearance on an emulator site’s list, if any, would not by itself demonstrate that it runs correctly.

What Sony’s US terms say
Sony’s US PlayStation Product Software License Agreement, version 2.0, grants a limited, non-commercial, revocable license to use covered software on the PlayStation product. It restricts copying and reverse engineering, and using tools to bypass, disable, or circumvent encryption, security, or authentication mechanisms. The agreement also refers to applicable intellectual-property law and recognizes that some local statutory consumer rights may take precedence over its terms.
Sony’s US Terms of Service describe PSN content as generally licensed for limited, personal, private, non-commercial use. They restrict activities including reproducing or transferring content, creating derivative works, reverse engineering, and bypassing encryption, security, DRM, or authentication. The specific terms that apply can depend on the software and service involved.

What those terms do not settle
The cited agreements do not resolve whether a particular person’s copy of a game or firmware is lawful, whether a particular emulator infringes rights, or how an exception applies outside the US. For a decision about your own use, consult the laws that apply where you live and the terms governing the relevant software. Owning a disc does not, by itself, establish that copying it or circumventing its protection is lawful.
