The Wi-Fi Alliance records identify Sony gaming devices CFI-Y2000 and CFI-Y2105, while leaving their product names and hardware specifications undisclosed.
What the new Sony certifications actually show
The Wi-Fi Alliance lists CFI-Y2000 and CFI-Y2105 as Sony Interactive Entertainment products named “Computer Entertainment System,” in the Gaming, Media & Music category and Gaming Console/Peripherals sub-category. Both certificates are dated September 21, 2026. (CFI-Y2000 certificate; CFI-Y2105 certificate)

Both entries list Android 15 and certified Wi-Fi capability in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. They do not list 6 GHz support. The records contain no product name such as PlayStation Portal and no display, battery, price, or release-date details.
That makes the certifications evidence of new Sony gaming-device registrations—not evidence that the devices are Portal models. The records also do not explain whether the two model numbers refer to regional or hardware variants, so they should not be treated as two distinct consumer products.

Why fans are connecting the records to Portal
The Portal theory is understandable: the registrations are for Sony gaming devices, the model numbers begin with CFI-Y, and the entries list Android 15. But none of those details identifies the devices as a Portal, successor, or upgraded model.
An OLED and 120 Hz “Portal Pro” possibility was reported earlier, in January 2026. Tom’s Guide attributed the claim to leaker Zuby_Tech, while noting Sony had not announced a refresh and that no price or timeline had been reported. The later Wi-Fi certifications do not confirm that rumor or link it to CFI-Y2000 or CFI-Y2105. (Tom’s Guide’s January 2026 report)

How the current PlayStation Portal compares
Sony’s current Portal product page specifies an 8-inch LCD with a 1080p screen capable of up to 60 frames per second. It is a streaming device, not a standalone console: it streams games over Wi-Fi through Remote Play from a PS5 or through supported cloud streaming. Sony says Remote Play does not require PlayStation Plus; cloud streaming requires PlayStation Plus Premium. (Sony’s PlayStation Portal product page; Sony’s cloud-streaming announcement)
Sony has improved the existing device through software. A March 2026 update added a selectable 1080p High Quality mode for Remote Play and Cloud Streaming, with a higher bitrate than the default 1080p Standard mode, as well as interface and usability changes. Sony described the feature this way: “Players can now select a 1080p High Quality mode during Remote Play and Cloud Streaming.” That update is a confirmed streaming improvement, not confirmation of a new screen or hardware revision. What this means if you’re considering a Portal
The current Portal is the only model with publicly specified hardware in these records. If its 8-inch LCD and up-to-60-fps display suit your needs, Sony’s confirmed software updates are relevant today; there is no verified upgraded model to compare or buy based on these certifications.
Sony reported that Portal cloud-streaming monthly users grew 162% year over year in January, with data covering December 2025 to January 2026. Sony also said over 50% of Portal users were PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers over that period. These are company-reported usage figures, not independent sales or market-size measurements. (Sony’s March 2026 update)
What to look for in a real Portal announcement
If Sony identifies these models or announces a refresh, the useful points to check will be the screen technology and refresh rate, supported wireless bands, battery and ergonomics, compatibility with Remote Play and cloud features, price, and whether the current LCD model will remain available. Until Sony supplies those details, the certification records cannot answer those questions.
