That figure refers to asking offers—not a documented completed eBay sale. The current U.S. new-console comparison price in a GameStop listing is $899.99, so check the seller, condition, and included disc drive before paying a premium.
What happened to the $899 PS5 Pro?
In an October 6, 2026 report, GameGPU said a PlayStation Direct batch of 2TB PS5 Pro consoles at $899 sold out within minutes. Game Developer also reported that PlayStation Direct was unavailable that day. A third-party tracker recorded brief in-stock and out-of-stock changes at $899 on October 5 and 6, but those snapshots do not establish the size of the batch or prove that every U.S. retailer was sold out.

Availability can change quickly, and these reports describe a moment in time rather than a restock schedule. They do not establish when PlayStation Direct will have consoles again.
Did a PS5 Pro actually sell for $1,500 on eBay?
The reported $1,500 figure describes resale offers, not a verified completed sale at that price. The completed eBay records surfaced in the available reporting were lower, but they are individual transactions—not a reliable market average:

Game Developer also reported used PS5 Pro prices of $1,399.99 for digital models and $1,499.99 for versions with a disc add-on at GameStop. Those are retailer prices for used consoles, not evidence that an eBay buyer paid $1,500.
How does that compare with the regular U.S. price?
A GameStop listing puts a new PS5 Pro at $899.99. GamesRadar’s October 2026 price table gives the same adjusted U.S. price from April 2, 2026, compared with $749.99 before the adjustment. The reported $899 PlayStation Direct offer was therefore close to the current listed new-console price, while $1,500 offers were substantially higher.
These figures are not perfectly interchangeable: the $899 was the reported PlayStation Direct batch price, $899.99 is a retailer listing, and resale offers may differ in condition, included accessories, shipping, and availability. Verify the full checkout total and current terms before buying.

What to check before buying a resale listing
- Completed sale or asking price: A seller’s offer does not show what buyers have actually paid. Use completed listings to compare transactions, while remembering that a small number of sales cannot establish a typical price.
- Condition: Confirm whether the console is new and sealed, used, or refurbished, and read the listing’s return terms.
- Disc drive: The PS5 Pro is all-digital by default. Sony says its removable disc drive is sold separately and is compatible with PS5 Pro, so check whether a listing includes one rather than assuming it does.
- Total cost: Compare the final price after shipping and any other checkout charges with the available new-console price.
- Seller and availability: Check the seller’s details and the current offer directly. Stock reports and marketplace listings can change rapidly.
What the PS5 Pro includes—and what its features mean
Sony’s U.S. product page describes PS5 Pro as a 2TB console with advanced ray tracing, improved image clarity on 4K TVs, and higher frame rates in PS5 Pro enhanced games. Sony says enhanced features apply only to select games and vary by game; they are not a guarantee that every PS5 title will receive the same improvements. Sony describes its console as all-digital, with the compatible removable disc drive sold separately.

Sony characterizes the console this way: “Play PS5 games with the most impressive visuals ever possible on a PlayStation console.” That is Sony’s product-page claim, with the game-by-game qualification above.
