For U.S. shoppers, check PlayStation Direct and established retailers such as Best Buy, then verify the exact console listing for your ZIP code before buying. Sony’s U.S. recommended prices effective April 2, 2026 are $649.99 for PS5, $599.99 for PS5 Digital Edition, and $899.99 for PS5 Pro. Those are manufacturer reference prices—not guaranteed checkout prices or a forecast of Black Friday savings. Sony has not announced 2026 U.S. Black Friday console offers in the information available here, so there is no confirmed sale date, discount, or restock to count on.
Where to check for a PS5 now
Sony directs U.S. shoppers to its PS5 buying options, including online retailers, and identifies PlayStation Direct as an official direct-purchase route. Check those options alongside established retailers such as Best Buy, then confirm availability for your location.
Stock changes, and a category page or search result is not proof that a particular console is currently available. A Best Buy category snapshot showed a mix of listings, including a sold-out listing and others with purchase options; that snapshot does not predict what will be in stock when you shop. Check the product page and checkout for the exact model, seller, price, and delivery or pickup estimate.
Compare the console models and current prices
Sony’s March 27, 2026 announcement set these U.S. recommended retail prices effective April 2, 2026. They are manufacturer recommendations; retailers may charge different prices, and listings may include bundles or other conditions.

| Console | U.S. recommended price, effective April 2, 2026 | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 1TB disc console | $649.99 | Plays PS5 and PS4 game discs as well as digital downloads. Consider it if you use physical games or disc media. |
| PS5 Digital Edition 825GB | $599.99 | Digital-only unless paired with a compatible, separately sold disc drive. Sony says supported slim model groups CFI-2000 and CFI-2100 can use the add-on drive; setup requires an internet connection. Check the console’s exact model group before buying a drive. |
| PS5 Pro | $899.99 | A higher-priced option. Compare its cost with your needs rather than treating it as a like-for-like substitute for the standard PS5 models. |
When comparing offers, match the same model and storage capacity, and account for whether a disc drive, game, or extra controller is included. Also check whether the listing is new, refurbished, or open-box; who the seller is; the delivered price; and whether pickup or delivery is available in your area. A lower listed price is not necessarily a better deal if the bundle contents or condition differ.
Should you wait for Black Friday?
Sony’s 2025 Black Friday announcement said offers began November 21 for a limited time through PlayStation Store, PlayStation Direct, PlayStation Gear, and participating retailers. Sony also noted that offers and actual prices or availability varied by region and retailer. That is past promotion history, not confirmation of the 2026 dates, stock, or discounts.

No official 2026 U.S. PS5 console promotion details are established here. Buy now if the exact in-stock listing meets your needs at a price you are comfortable paying. If you wait, monitor the same model and compare the final checkout total with Sony’s recommended price; do not assume that a restock is imminent or that the console will be discounted.

PlayStation Direct’s U.S. order and delivery guidance says a signature is required for hardware shipments. Timing varies by location, and issues such as incorrect payment or shipping information, severe weather, or other unforeseen circumstances can delay delivery. Use the date shown at checkout rather than relying on a general estimate. If you need the console by a particular date, consider local pickup when a retailer offers it.
