A reported leak puts PS6 at 40 TFLOPS and Xbox Project Helix at 56 TFLOPS—but neither figure is an official specification. If the estimates use comparable methods, Helix’s number is 40% higher on paper. That does not mean it will run games 40% faster: TFLOPS alone cannot predict real-world performance.
What do the leaked 40 and 56 TFLOPS figures mean?
VideoCardz reported on September 23, 2026, that hardware leaker KeplerL2 claimed chips for both next-generation consoles had taped out and estimated 40 TFLOPS for PS6 and 56 TFLOPS for Helix. VideoCardz labels the figures as rumor, not confirmed hardware specifications. Read the report.

TFLOPS is a measure of theoretical floating-point computing throughput. Comparing the two reported numbers gives a simple result: 56 is 40% higher than 40. That arithmetic describes only the estimates. It is meaningful as a relative compute comparison only if both estimates were calculated on a comparable basis; the leak does not establish that condition or provide a game benchmark.
Will 56 TFLOPS make Xbox Helix faster in games?
Not on its own. A theoretical compute figure does not translate directly into frame rates, image quality, or overall game performance. VideoCardz cautions against treating raw compute as a direct performance prediction, and TechRadar notes that architecture and memory bandwidth also matter. Games use hardware in different ways. The result can depend on the GPU architecture, memory capacity and bandwidth, rendering workload, game engine, and how effectively developers optimize for each system. Ray tracing, path tracing, upscaling, AI features, and specialized accelerators can also affect what a console can deliver. A higher peak compute estimate may be relevant, but it cannot settle those questions by itself.
What has Microsoft officially confirmed about Project Helix?
Microsoft’s announcement is separate from the leak. In a March 11, 2026 GDC summary, Xbox says Project Helix is its next-generation first-party console, built around a custom AMD SoC and designed to play Xbox console and PC games. Microsoft also describes work with AMD on DirectX and FSR, highlights ray-tracing ambitions, and says it intends to continue support for games from four Xbox generations. These are platform-direction statements, not confirmation of the leaked TFLOPS estimate. Xbox Wire: Project Helix announcement.

Microsoft says it plans to ship alpha versions of the hardware to developers beginning in 2027. That is a plan for developer hardware, not a consumer release date.
Have Sony or Microsoft confirmed the leaked figures?
No. The reviewed sources do not establish official PS6 or Helix TFLOPS figures, a Sony-confirmed PS6 specification sheet, final memory configurations, retail prices, or consumer release dates. Treat claims about specific chip generations or memory as speculation unless the companies confirm them. The official Helix announcement establishes Microsoft’s broad direction, while the 40-versus-56 estimates remain attributed to KeplerL2’s reported leak.

What should a fair PS6-versus-Helix performance comparison measure?
Once official specifications and comparable tests are available, a useful comparison should go beyond peak TFLOPS. For performance, look for:
- GPU architecture and how it performs across different workloads.
- Resolution and frame rates in the same games, at equivalent settings.
- Ray tracing and other specialized rendering performance.
- Memory capacity and bandwidth.
- Upscaling and frame-generation image quality, as well as latency.
- Developer tools and game-specific optimization.
Compatibility, game availability, and retail price will also shape each system’s practical value, even though they are not measures of raw performance. Until there are confirmed specifications and comparable game tests, the leak offers a theoretical compute comparison—not a defensible verdict about which console will be faster.
