PUBG MOBILE Version 4.0 launched on September 4, 2025, with a limited-time Halloween event officially named Spooky Soiree. Its headline features were Ghostie, a skill-equipped companion; Mystery Mansion, a loot site with detection and revival mechanics; and the two-seat Magic Broom, which traded shooting and looting for faster travel and a knockback attack. The event ended in 2025, so these features should be treated as historical rather than currently available.
When Spooky Soiree ran—and where its features appeared
KRAFTON Japan announced Version 4.0 on September 4, 2025. Its release listed Spooky Soiree from the update through November 5, 2025, at 05:59 Japan time. The global Version 4.0 page gives a related season window of September 5, 2025, at 02:00 to November 4, 2025, at 00:00 UTC. These are regional schedules, not one interchangeable global end date. The Japanese release supported solo, duo, and squad play. The patch notes say Spooky Soiree ran on Erangel in ranked and unranked matches, and on Livik and Rondo in ranked matches. Mystery Mansion did not appear on Rondo, and other themed features could vary by map and event date. The Version 4.0 patch notes describe those map and mode limits.
How Ghostie worked
“Ghost Mode” is a useful reader-facing description, but the official event name was Spooky Soiree and the companion was Ghostie (rendered as “Ghost” in Japanese). A Ghostie was assigned to the player at the start of a match. It was normally visible only to its owner; activating a skill made it visible to other players.

Skills and upgrades
Players found Ghost skills in crates or around the map, then equipped one active skill and two passive skills. Ghost Cake raised a skill through levels 1 to 3. The patch notes give examples including:
- Active: a balloon that let Ghostie fly for a time, or a forward-moving shield that blocked bullets.
- Passive: automatic armor repair, blocking headshot damage, revealing nearby enemies after a hit, increased sprint speed, or helping heal the player or a teammate.
Skill availability shifted during the event and could differ by map. For example, the notes list Healing among the skills beginning September 18, 2025.
Prankster Ghost was a separate mechanic
Prankster Ghost was not the starting companion. After being killed, a player could transform for a limited time and use a protective shield and scan effect. From September 18, the mechanic also included a bomb transformation that knocked opponents back.

Mystery Mansion: loot, enemy scans and a revival opportunity
Mystery Mansion appeared at two locations on Erangel and one on Livik; it was absent from Rondo. The mansion offered plentiful loot, but its special features also created tactical risks and opportunities.

Ghost Treasure scanned for approaching enemies
After a delay from the start of the match, players could open Ghost Treasure. It dropped supplies and scanned the surrounding area to detect approaching enemies, making the interaction useful for gathering loot while also alerting players to nearby threats.
The magic mirror could revive a teammate
A central magic mirror activated after a countdown and a seal mechanic. It could revive a killed teammate, subject to the match’s revival limit, and spawned high-grade supplies. The mansion was therefore more than a loot stop: teams had to account for its timing and the possibility of other players contesting it.

How to use the Magic Broom
The Magic Broom was a two-seat vehicle that automatically equipped when picked up; players could use a button to switch to it. It increased movement speed and offered a temporary Sprint burst plus a charged “Big Sweep” that could knock enemies back after movement.
- Pick it up: the broom automatically equipped, after which you could switch to it with the in-game button.
- Ride with a teammate: it seated two players and provided faster movement.
- Choose when to use its abilities: Sprint provided a temporary speed burst; charging Big Sweep enabled a knockback effect after movement.
- Dismount when needed: you could get off at will, but both skill use and broom reuse were subject to cooldowns.
The trade-off was important: while riding, players could not shoot or collect items. The official notes record a performance adjustment on September 12, 2025, but do not establish exact speed or cooldown numbers in the cited materials. The broom favored repositioning and disruption over fighting or looting while mounted.

Other notable Version 4.0 additions
Mortar
The global announcement also introduced a lightweight Mortar that occupied the pistol slot and used special explosive ammunition. Players set it on the ground, then targeted visible enemies directly or used the map to hit areas outside their line of sight. See the official Version 4.0 page.

Unfail
Unfail was an asymmetric pursuit-and-escape mode for one Predator against four Survivors. The Predator won by eliminating the Survivors; Survivors won by escaping through the Exit Gate. KRAFTON Japan’s notes list its initial availability as September 26 through November 5, 2025, at 05:59 Japan time.
More changes
Version 4.0 also included Metro Royale Chapter 28 collectibles, lobby 1v1 challenges, instant full-set gear purchases from the Loadout page, Ghost Crates in classic maps, and World of Wonder 1.0 availability with new creation objects including ghost abilities and the Magic Broom.
Is Ghostie or the Magic Broom available now?
The cited event schedules ended in 2025. They do not establish whether Spooky Soiree or any of its features returned in a later rotation, so current availability as of October 2026 cannot be confirmed from those announcements. Check the in-game event schedule or a current official PUBG MOBILE announcement before looking for Ghostie, Mystery Mansion, or the Magic Broom.
Version 4.0 is best understood by the role of each feature: Ghostie supplied combat and survival utility, Mystery Mansion combined loot with detection and a limited revival opportunity, and the broom offered two-person mobility and knockback at the cost of shooting and looting while mounted. The official materials do not provide a comparative balance study or performance statistic that establishes one as strongest.
