Punishing: Gray Raven is an action RPG built around real-time squad switching, dodging, and its 3-Ping skill system—not turn-based commands. Start by choosing the server where your friends play, learn how your character’s pings work, and keep Black Cards flexible until you know which banner you want to pursue.
How combat works
KURO GAMES describes Punishing: Gray Raven as a fast-paced sci-fi action RPG. You control a squad, switch members during fights, use character abilities, and combine attacks through the 3-Ping system. The official Steam description sums up the intended rhythm as: “Utilize an intuitive 3-Ping skill system to parry, dodge, and unleash devastating Signature Moves.” KURO GAMES’ Steam description identifies the developer and publisher.
Read the pings, then act
Skills are tied to the colored orbs shown in the combat interface. Watch which pings are available, match your actions to the active character’s skills, and use dodges and signature moves as part of the fight. The precise skill effects vary by character, so use the in-game skill descriptions rather than assuming one rotation fits the whole roster.
Switch squad members deliberately
Switching is part of combat, not just a way to change who is on screen. Pay attention to which squad member is active and what their skills can do before spending available pings. If an encounter feels overwhelming, slow down long enough to read the character skills and practice dodging; button-mashing can make it harder to notice the openings and resources the system gives you.
Choose your server before committing
A May 2026 beginner guide from LUDO.guide says Global players can choose North America, Europe, or Asia-Pacific. The guide states that server choice affects friends and co-op, and that game data does not transfer between servers. Pick the region where the people you want to play with are located, and check the selection carefully before starting an account. LUDO.guide’s First Steps guide also reports a two-second delay in co-op on every server; treat that as the guide’s experience rather than a guaranteed latency measurement for every player or connection.

How to think about Black Cards and recruitment
Black Cards are flexible premium currency used for recruitment choices. LUDO.guide’s May 2026 advice for free-to-play and low-spending players is to save them for new S-Rank Construct debut banners rather than convert them into Basic Construct R&D Tickets or Basic Weapon R&D Tickets. That is a planning recommendation from the guide, not a promise that every future banner will be equally valuable.
Keep ticket types and banners straight
- Basic Construct R&D Tickets are for the basic Construct banner; Basic Weapon R&D Tickets are for the basic weapon banner.
- Event Construct tickets are used on event Construct banners.
- Target Weapon tickets are used for targeted weapon research.
- Character and weapon banners have separate pity counters. LUDO.guide also says A-Rank and S-Rank counters are separate, as are 5-star and 6-star weapon counters; an early pull of the relevant rarity resets that counter.
Before spending, open the live banner’s details and confirm which ticket or currency it accepts, what the target is, and how its pity works. Recruitment rules and banners can change, and the figures below are a dated guide snapshot—not a guarantee for every banner, account, or future version.
Banner figures reported by the May 2026 guide
| Banner | Target | Reported pity and rate-up detail |
|---|---|---|
| Member Recruit | Construct | LUDO.guide reports first S-Rank pity at 40 pulls and later S-Rank pity at 60 pulls. |
| Target Weapon Research | Weapon | LUDO.guide reports 6-star pity at 30 pulls and an 80% chance of the selected rate-up weapon. |
The counts are distinct between Construct and weapon banners, so do not treat progress on one as progress toward the other. Check the counter and rules shown on the banner you are about to use before committing currency.
Build a progression plan around the live game
Prioritize learning the combat and completing the missions and activities currently presented in-game before making long-term roster assumptions. Version-specific content changes: the Apple App Store’s version 4.8 history entry, dated September 23, 2026, lists a new character, weapon, CUB, memory set, story, and events. It also describes “Against the Flow of Time” as a place to learn character mechanics and clear combat challenges. Treat that as a snapshot of that update, not a permanent roster or activity recommendation. See the App Store version history, and use current in-game notices for active events, banners, and available characters.
A practical early checklist
- Choose your server: confirm the region with friends before beginning, since the guide says data does not carry over.
- Learn each active character: inspect skill descriptions, watch the available pings, and practice dodging and switching in accessible fights.
- Sort your recruitment items: check whether each ticket is for a basic, event, or targeted banner; avoid converting flexible Black Cards casually.
- Set a banner goal: check the live banner’s accepted currency, target, pity counter, and reset rules before spending.
- Reassess when updates arrive: rely on current notices and banner details rather than assuming an older guide’s roster or values still apply.
