Quordle game #1304, dated Wednesday, August 20, 2025, has four standard answers: DOLLY, MERRY, BUGLE and WORST. The clues below are arranged from subtle to direct, so stop before the solution if you want to preserve the challenge. Quordle’s daily puzzle resets at midnight in each player’s time zone, so the date may differ from what “today” means where you are.
Today’s Quordle hints for August 20
These clues refer to the four standard Quordle grids, not Daily Sequence.
- The words begin with D, M, B and W.
- In order, the clues are: “_____ Parton”; a fuzzy, festive feeling; a trumpet-like instrument used for military signaling; and the least acceptable or most serious.
- Two answers each have a pair of repeated letters. Across the four words there are three distinct standard vowels. None contains Q, Z, X or J, and no two words start with the same letter.

For game #1304, the four standard answers are DOLLY, MERRY, BUGLE and WORST.
What the clues point to
- DOLLY completes “Dolly Parton.”
- MERRY describes a cheerful, festive feeling.
- BUGLE is a trumpet-like instrument used for signaling, including in military settings.
- WORST can mean the least acceptable or most serious.
How to play Quordle
Forbes describes standard Quordle as four five-letter words played across four grids, with nine guesses to solve them. A green tile marks a letter in the correct position; yellow means the letter is in the word but in a different position. Forbes also recommends practice games for newcomers.
Daily Sequence is a different mode
Do not mix the standard answers above with the Daily Sequence answers reported for the same date: SHRUB, LADEN, TATTY and ADORE. Daily Sequence is a separate mode and uses a different set of words.
