If Rainbow Six Siege crashes on PC, first identify when it fails and whether only the game closes or the whole computer restarts. Then check that your PC meets Ubisoft’s current requirements, verify the game files, update the launcher and graphics driver, and follow a separate path if the error names BattlEye. There is no documented universal fix; the right next step depends on the symptom.
Pin down when and how Siege crashes
Before changing settings, note the exact error message and what happens immediately before the failure. A crash before the menu, a failure while BattlEye starts, a crash while loading into a match, and a mid-match crash can point to different issues.
- Game closes to desktop: Siege has failed, but Windows remains running.
- Freeze or crash during startup or match loading: Record the last screen or step reached and any error shown.
- PC restarts or shows a blue screen: This is a system-level failure, not simply the game closing. If other games also cause it, investigate broader Windows, driver, or hardware stability rather than treating it as a Siege-only problem.
Also record your Windows version, CPU, GPU model, recent game or driver changes, and whether other games are affected. This gives Ubisoft Support useful context if the basic checks do not resolve the problem.
Check that your PC meets the current requirements
Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege system requirements specify Windows 10 or Windows 11 64-bit, DirectX 12, an SSD, and 65 GB of available storage. For the listed minimum 1080p/60 configuration, Ubisoft specifies 8 GB RAM, a Ryzen 3 3100 or Core i3-8100-class CPU or better, and an RX 5500 XT 4 GB, Arc A380 6 GB, GTX 1650 4 GB, or better graphics card.

The minimum specification is a stated performance target, not a guarantee that every PC at that threshold will be crash-free. Compare your CPU, memory, GPU and VRAM, Windows version, storage type, free space, and intended resolution/performance tier with Ubisoft’s current page. If you are below a listed requirement, address that specific gap; an upgrade will not necessarily fix a separate software or stability problem.
Try the low-risk checks first
- Verify the game files using the file-check option in the launcher or platform where you installed Siege. Ubisoft includes file verification among its initial checks for BattlEye-related launch trouble.
- Update the game launcher and install available updates for Siege through that launcher.
- Update your graphics driver using the appropriate GPU vendor’s supported update route, then restart the PC.
- Try launching Siege again and note whether the failure changes, including any new error text.
These are recommended checks, not a guaranteed fix for every crash. Do not download replacement Siege or anti-cheat executables from unofficial sites.

If the error mentions BattlEye
Use this branch when the message explicitly names BattlEye or the failure occurs as its service starts. Ubisoft’s BattlEye FAQ says that a blocked or failing service can prevent the game from launching. After verifying files and updating the launcher and drivers, check whether your security software has specifically identified or blocked the BattlEye service.
Review the detected block rather than disabling security protection broadly. If the message persists, contact Ubisoft Support with the exact error and the checks you have tried. Ubisoft’s FAQ dates to 2016, so do not assume its older Windows-specific references apply to current Windows versions without confirmation. BattlEye also cannot simply be uninstalled if you want to launch Siege.

Use the current graphics API path
Do not rely on old advice to switch Siege to DirectX 11. Ubisoft’s Operation Collision Point season page says the PC DX11 executable was removed, leaving DX12. Intel’s December 2024 Arc support article, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Crashes with Intel Arc Graphics, recommended Vulkan for a particular crash scenario, but that advice predates the current API configuration. It should not be treated as a general current fix or a reason to search launcher settings for a DX11/Vulkan option.
If the crash continues
Check Ubisoft’s current Rainbow Six Siege news and roadmap for recent game updates; version-specific workarounds can become outdated as the game changes. Ubisoft listed Y11S3.1 patch notes on September 22, 2026, and marked its roadmap last updated September 23, 2026.

If the basic checks fail, contact Ubisoft Support and provide the crash timing, exact error text, whether the game or the whole PC failed, your Windows version and PC components, recent updates or changes, and the troubleshooting steps already attempted. The cited Ubisoft pages do not establish one universal current crash-log upload procedure, so follow the instructions Support gives for your case rather than assuming a particular log workflow.

Why does Siege crash when I join a match?
Record whether the game crashes during loading or after the match begins, along with any error and recent game or driver changes. Check system requirements and verify the files before escalating with those details to Ubisoft Support.
Can I fix Siege crashes by switching to DirectX 11 or Vulkan?
Do not treat those as current general fixes: Ubisoft says the PC DX11 executable was removed, leaving DX12. A Vulkan recommendation in an Intel Arc article from December 2024 predates that change.
Should I uninstall BattlEye to stop crashes?
No. Ubisoft says BattlEye cannot simply be uninstalled if you want to launch Siege. For an explicit BattlEye error, verify files and check for a specific security-software block instead.
