What Rare and Legendary mean
Jokers are ongoing modifiers that can affect scoring, card behavior or shop money. As the official FAQ puts it, each Joker has a unique mechanism. A Joker’s rarity is not the same thing as its unlock status: unlocking a card and finding it during a run are separate matters.

The community-maintained Jokers reference reports 20 Rare Jokers and five Legendary Jokers among 150 total, and says a randomly generated Joker has a 5% chance to be Rare. These are reference figures, not an official live-build roster or probability statement from the publisher.
Legendary Jokers: all five reported cards
The community reference names five Legendary Jokers. The effects below follow its descriptions; check each card’s Collection text in your game for the wording and behavior in your installed version.

Rare Joker effects supported by the cited reference
The Rare Joker category reference labels its information as matching Steam version 1.0.1f, released May 1, 2024, and warns that equivalent console patches may differ. The source material supports the following examples, not a verified current list of all 20 Rare Jokers.

How to unlock and encounter them
The official FAQ directs players to the in-game Collection for Joker unlock requirements; some Jokers become available through Shop progression or achievements. The community reference says Legendary Jokers can only appear through The Soul Spectral Card rather than normal Shop generation. That describes how an already-unlocked Legendary can be found in a run, not how its unlock requirement works. Consult the Collection for the individual unlock condition.

For Rare Jokers, the reported 5% chance applies to a randomly generated Joker according to the community reference. It should not be read as a guarantee about every shop, every source of Joker generation, or every game version.

- Check the in-game Collection. Read the Joker description and its unlock line in your installed build; the official FAQ recommends the Collection for unlock information.
- Compare the trigger with your build. Identify whether the Joker needs a particular hand, rank, suit, discard, destroyed face card, shop ending or another Joker’s position.
- Account for the cost or delay. Stuntman’s hand-size reduction, Invisible Joker’s two-round wait and the hand-specific payoffs can materially affect whether a card fits your run.
- Check the version context. The Rare category reference is explicitly tied to Steam v1.0.1f from May 1, 2024, and notes that console patches may differ. A PC Gamer report dated September 16, 2026 says version 1.1 remained in development without an announced launch window, so older reference data may not match a later build.
